we haven't been to the Hoop De Doo in 20 years. This year we are going back and hope we will have fun. I can't remember much about our last visit but kind of remembering it was a fun evening. Taking the grandkids and hope they will enjoy the food. Not too fussy eaters so what is the menu like. Can you go back for more food and drink, they are pretty good eaters? Also has the show changed? Thanks!

Not sure if the show has changed, but in our first visit last year, we had a great time. The food is served family style and they will bring more if you like. The food was really good so we did! The kids (6 & 10 at the time) really liked the show, as did my wife and I. I especially appreciated the included Yuengling beer as one of the beverage choices. We were seriously considering going again this year, but decided to try some other things to see how they compare. I think it appeals to just about any age for both the food and the show, and you should have a great time!

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
The current show (heard it has not changed a lot over the years since your visit) since our first time we saw it in 2009 is a must do for me and DH!! We go every single trip. And yes the food is all you can eat still. Just ask for more of anything and they will bring it to you. Enjoy!! We will be enjoying it next month!! :)

The show has not changed at all. I went there when I was child and we just went back last Nov. My kids had a blast. As a matter of fact, they still talk about it as one of the favorite things they did during that trip.

The jokes are corny, the dinner is alright, but the dessert (strawberry shortcake) is great. The show is so much fun. I know for those on the dinning plan it's 2 credits, but it's worth it.

The food is delicious -- not four star quality, but decent backyard barbecue quality and very kid-friendly. They have all you can eat cornbread, salad, fried chicken, barbecue ribs, mashed potatoes, veggies, baked beans, and shortcake for dessert. This is also the only table-service meal where the price includes beer, wine and sangria!!!!! I had the sangria and enjoyed it immensely.

The show is fun and family-friendly, and the actors go out into the audience a few times during the show (both upstairs and down) so everybody feels like they're a part of the action. Have a wonderful time!

The show is the same, they have updated a few lines here and there but the overall show is still the same. I've been going for geez, like 30 years now I believe and I still love it!

Ignore the comment that the food is horrid!! Lol That's a bit harsh! I and DH are picky with finding good/great food no matter where we are traveling. A bit of a foodie if I might say, and me and DH absolutely love the food! Good classic American food. Not fine dining but it's is good enough to make us keep going back every trip!! :hungry::D

I'm sorry if you love the food you are not picky... Look I have gone many times, but the food is not even remotely good.... You can throw a dart at a board in KC, texas, or pick any place down south and you will find 1000000 times better Fried Chicken or ribs.... Our party of 8 all hated it...

I LIVE IN THE SOUTH!! lol In one of the best states and areas for delicious southern food. South Louisiana! New Orleans (that we visit often) is 2 hours east of me and I'm in the heart of the south. Very familiar with food here in Louisiana, Texas, etc etc. We are known in my city and many in this area to have food that can't be beat!!
Never said it was the best fried chicken I ever had but it is good enough for us to go back being so picky as we are! Your opinion is your opinion! lol. We will just have to agree to disagree! :)

Of course you could....

Then again, you're also capable of finding a way of deriding anyone else's tastes that don't meet your alleged high standards. So at least you're consistent....

Yes
. Our party of 8 all hated it...

There you go , I fixed your opinion.

My wife and I go several times each trip because we like the food and the live non lip synced performances. The chicken is always moist, the beans, cornbread, salad are always good quality. The sangria has always been awful.

What ever ax that fella had to grind I don't know, we're equally at home at Hoopty as we are at the Derby, each have good food in their respective genre.

Menu has not changed since it first opened. Only change we have noted is the Hoop Dee Doo song was changed due to a legal issue. Chix and Ribs with corn and beans, etc. Strawberry short cake for desert!! Great take - if you don't enjoy it -- you have no sense of humor. Corny Corny Corny

Perhaps I should have specified, "Mickey's Backyard BBQ" quality.
...and perhaps I should have mentioned that I'd enjoyed a few sangrias before tasting anything. ;)

I still stand by my assessment of the menu as, if nothing else, kid-friendly, even if it's not up to snuff for those steeped in the culture of Southern barbecue. I'm an Upstate New York Yankee, born and bred, so my critical expertise is geared more toward Buffalo wings, chicken riggies and roast beef on 'weck. :)
