How does one receive an "Honorary Citizen of WDW" button? I was given one at Guest Services (or Relations... whichever one is in the parks - I'm sure someone will jump and the chance to correct me) on my last trip when DH received his "1st Timer" button and thought it was neat. But then during the rest of the trip people, especially CMs, kept asking me about it. I didn't know what to tell them...

I have no clue. We were just walking in Fantasyland about 5 min after opening and it was dead... two dream squad guys were walking by and Lizzy piped up and said "MINNIE!" when she saw Mickey on the backpack of someone in front of us... the guys started laughing and talking to us and then gave us those pins.

I think we lost all 3 of them at some point though... Lizzy liked playing with them and slowly one by one they disappeared.

There's no set way to receive them. I've heard of people receiving them from Dream Squad, Guest Relations, and some Streetmosphere characters. It's kind of a right place/right time/right Cast Member thing.

I recieved an older Honarary Citizen button by participating in pin trading one time.

You could probably ask for it in Guest Relations, just like the birthday button pins.

Hope that helps. :)

I received one back in 2004 from the mayor. My mom lost her contact (it is one of those gas ones that are expensive) in the Emporium. My family and I were looking for it and a CM asked if we needed help. We told her what happened and she helped and blocked off the area. Then 2 CMs took the door off of its hinges to look and still no luck. Then the mayor and came over and announced what happened. I luckily found her contact and the mayor took my hand and told everyone I found it and made a big fuss and gave me the button!

Honorary Citizen buttons are basically buttons used when another one of the occasional buttons is not apt. You won't be able to go into Guest Relations (or anywhere, for that matter) and ask for one. Why? Because then everyone would be an honorary citizen! Basically they are a tool for CMs to recognize special guests or to (for example) issue to a birthday kid's brother or sister who may feel left out w/o their own button.

MY oldest daughter received one at guest relations in MK. She was getting a 1st visit button for her boyfriend that came with us and they inquired as to how here first trip was going. She explained that it was for her boyfriend and that she was in the parks monthly and they gave her the honorary citizen button.

Birthday buttons can be obtained in Guest Relations at any park or in Downtown Disney. The button doesn't "do" anything except communicate it's your birthday to everyone.

What are the different buttons available? I know of the birthday ones, first timer ones, but what other ones do they have?
Currently, the following are available:
  • Happy Birthday - Birthday cake with silver Mickey heads on it (English and Spanish)
  • Just Married - Prince Charming and Cinderella
  • Happy Anniversary - Mickey and Minnie
  • Magical Gathering - The Incredibles
  • First Visit - The Fab Five
  • Honorary Citizen - Disney "D" superimposed on a key
  • Dream Recipient - Year of a Million Dreams logo

Have they eliminated the park specific Happy Birthday bottons? Last year we were there for my DD's B-day and I only remember the one generic button. I will have to look when I get home.

Ok one more question: have any of the birthday buttons changed? Do MK and MGM still share the same one with the birthday cake (Captain Hank, is that the one you just described?)?

Does AK still have the one with the tree and Epcot the different "happy birthday" wishes in different languages?

Now they all have the same button I believe. It doesn't specify a park, and they write your name on it.
