Honeypot: Complaints about the Skyliner/Gondola; also worries and insecurities

I have a complaint: I'm 3.5 months behind on the gondola thread and I just can't catch up. Whenever I think I'm getting somehwere the page counter just goes up again. It's exhausting but I miss it!

Catching you up from three months ago.
  • Testing on all three lines. They're going as fast as @marni1971 said, i.e., 11.2 mph (5 meter/sec).
  • Gondolas unwrapped and about a third have Disney characters.
  • No more definite word on when they'll be open. WDW still says "Fall.' But this is a company that starts Halloween in mid-August.
  • And that's it.

Sorry, I should've been more clear: I've kept up with Bio and Passport to the Parks so I'm up to date on the Skyliner, just not on the thread. And the thread is what I miss. ;) Where else am I going to find 101 more ways to die?
Thank you for the summary, though!

What if these things attack again ? They already attacked a woman giving her brain damage. Disney has no control over wildlife...

I saw a discussion on another forum where someone was seriously concerned about sharing a gondola car with someone using foul language.
That was me. It's been a lifelong phobia of mine to encounter swears in public places. And it's not the "hardcore" words that set me off into a tailspin. But when I hear words like: "Rubbish" and "Poppycock", I've been known to breakdown into some terrible yet memorable fits.

I agree with not complaining about something you haven't even experienced yet. However, I did experience this walking into HS. I know this complaint has been brought up, so I guess I'm just beating a dead horse here. If that's what the towers will look like, that's pretty disappointing. Disney generally does a good job of decorating and themes and such. This is ugly.View attachment 377321
Can you explain to me how you theme a cable car tower? Not everything on WDW property can be themed-there's still gotta be a bit of real life in the Disney fantasy bubble. If these towers ran through the middle of the parks, then I would have a problem, ie the Skyway which ran right through the middle of MK for the first 28 years of operation.

Poppycock... Poppycock... a very woodsy word. Rubbish.. guttersnipe... very tinny.

This thread here should serve as the main thread for new and creative speculation on Skyliner morbidity. We already have enough for a whole season of Midsomer Murders and I am confident that we'll have more.

Speaking of which, i plan to add links from the first post in this thread to the various complaints in the original thread over the next few months, so eventually you'll be able to follow everything here, both new and old!

If they had put shrouds over the wheels on the tower then it may have helped or it may have just looked like a shroud floating up in the sky and then they would have had to do something else. I bet it'll be like cell towers. Originally all you saw was cell towers everywhere and they were pretty ugly. Now, they're so ubiquitous that you don't even notice them.

Once you get used to these towers, I think that they'll just fade into the background. I tend to think that doing just about anything to them would make them stand out more than anything.

Few will get your reference. Me - one of my favorite shows (yes, I know it's a tad cheesy at times).

Is that an honest question? My answer - I don't know. I would never have thought of most of how Disney themes stuff. That's one of the draws of a Disney park though. You feel like you're in another world. Imagineers do a fantastic job at that. My opinion is those towers are too industrial. I think they could've done better.

If we are going to make up complaints before it is operational, then why cant I get from Tomorrow land to Fantasy Land thru the Matterhorn like I used too?

That's ambitious!
