Honeymoon Resorts

Going to WDW for honeymoon in oct. 2003. Have always stayed at the moderate resorts ( DL CBR PO). Wondering if it is worth the extra money for a Deluxe resort. Is there a size difference. Any personal experiences would be appreciated.

I would go for one of the Deluxe for your honeymoon. The rooms are a little bigger, most have balconies, plus if they know it's your honeymoon they'll probably upgrade your room. We stayed at the Polynesian for our honeymoon and they treated us really nice. Among other things, they sent us a bottle of wine and we sat out on our balcony at night looking out on to the water.

Could be different now, it was 7 years ago...lol!

Definately do a deluxe for the honeymoon. The staff will treat you extra special and for a few extra bucks might be able to arrange a couple of surprises.

I recommend the Grand Floridian or Polynesian. They seem to have the most romantic feels to them.

We stayed at the Grand Floridian for our Honeymoon and it was wonderful. The service is really good and the CM's really make you feel at home. I think it is the most romantic resort at WDW. I have also stayed at the Y&BC and like it very much too. I think the Y&BC have a better location but the GF is more romantic. I don't think you could go wrong with either one.

Well, DW and I had our honeymoon at the GF and absolutely loved it. We went all out and got the Grand Plan too. We had conceriege service and a room that looked right out on Cinderella Castle. Plus, our room was really out of the way (you had to go up to the third floor of the main lodge, down a hallway, then down an elevator to the second floor) with limited access, so there was very little noise. It was expensive, but we don't regret it at all. (Afterall, how many honeymoons do you really expect to have? Okay, first honeymoons. No cheating like DW and I and have a "second honeymoon" for your second anniversary, "third honeymoon" for your third anniversary... you get the idea. :))

Make youre ressies as far in advance as you can and always mention that this is for your honeymoon. CMs are really good about noting these things and doing nice things for you.

If you want to 'splurge' but not break the bank, I would suggest the Wilderness Lodge. You can get great rates ($144--Lodge View, $180--Courtyard) if they continue their deals. The lodge is incredibly romantic, and it is really fun to take the boats to the MK.

It is a little less convenient than the monorail resorts (OK, a LOT less convenient), but it has a better ambiance than all of them, save perhaps the Poly. (At least in my opinion.)

Good luck!:sohappy:

The wilderness lodge is very romantic imo. If you are looking to save a little money (and escape from central florida-- you truly feel as if your are in the northwest) this is the place. I here they have a honeymoon suite with a hot tub where you can see the fireworks from???

But if your looking for ultimate disney honeymoon, go for the grand floridian!!! Either way it will be unforgettable!:D

Personally... I would recommend a Deluxe resort... Why? Well, first off... it's your Honeymoon... It's a lil chance to splurge and go all out. After all... hopefully, this will be the only one you'll ever have! So make it one to remember and cherish.

Secondly... one thing about the Deluxe's that I like... they have inside hallway entrances, versus the outside entrances. This will provide a bit more quietness and privacy for you. It'll also mean that chances are, you'll have a patio or balcony. :)

But... as for WHERE to stay... that is such a tough decision...

I went to the Animal Kingdom Lodge tonight for dinner (more about that in another post)... this was my first time at AKL... and I do have to say it was incredible... simply beautiful. I didn't get a chance to see the rooms, but I imagine they would be quite nice as well. Very nice attention to detail.

Yacht & Beach Club, and the Boardwalk... all three are very nice resorts... nice theming, the pool at the Y & BC is beautiful, and they're really close to Epcot and Disney/MGM Studios, via boat (or just walking)

I've never been to the Wilderness Lodge, so to be honest, I can't really say I know too much about it. I do know it's a very nice resort, and I'm sure you could get a nice secluded room at a decent price.

Contemporary, Polynesian, Grand Floridian... Well, personally... my thoughts on the Contemporary... Love the Monorail going through, I think it's a great resort... however... for me, it's a Tower room overlooking the MK, or someplace else. I dont really like the garden wings...

As for the Polynesian and Grand Floridian... I think these two would be my top choices for a Honeymoon. There's just something about these two that for me is just more romantic than any other Disney resort.

The Polynesian, especially at night, is a great place to walk around, or just relax. Beautiful resort... It's also a fun place to stay, as well. :)

The Grand Floridian is simply the ultimate in Elegance. It is expensive, I will admit... but it's worth it. Gorgeous resort... when I worked at the Monorail station there, I could never get over just how beautiful it was, especially around Christmas. I had my parents stay there last year... the absolutly loved it. They ended up getting a nice balcony view of the Magic Kingdom (it pays to know people in guest services... lol)

When you finally decide where you want to stay (and good luck deciding... such a tough choice!!), make sure to let the Disney reservation people know that its your honeymoon... Like other people have said... Disney has a way of creating special magical vacations of a lifetime, that you will never forget.

I know whichever resort you do end up choosing, you will have an awesome time.

Definately stay at a Deluxe resort for your honeymoon if you can manage it. The Moderate resorts I've stayed at are very nice but the Deluxe Resorts are much nicer in my opinion.

We stayed at the Polynesian on our honeymoon way back in 1986. It was great and very romantic - I would highly recommend it. The Beach Club is also very nice and is conveniently located near EPCOT, MGM, and the Boardwalk. I personally have found it to be quite romantic too.

We just got back from the Animal Kingdom Lodge which we chose to celebrate our 15th anniversary. Not only was it an absolutlely fabulous resort and quite romantic (something about holding hands on the balcony while a giraffe munches on a tree right in front of you) but it had the added benefit (if it is something you are looking for) that it is a bit removed from everything else. This left us feeling the Disney magic while at the same time not being overdosed on Mickey & Pooh. However, this could be a drawback in that the buses are the only means of transportation and are not as romantic as the boats/monorails of the other Deluxe hotels (but the buses at AKL do run amazingly well).

I've never stayed at the Grand Floridian but I would think that would be another great place to honeymoon.

No matter what you choose I am sure you will have a great honeymoon and make lots of great memories.
