Honeymoon Perks?

What (if any) are the perks of telling people that we're there for our honeymoon? I want it to be the best experience possible.

Where are the places to inform them?

We'll be in all parks and eating at the Castle for dinner and at the Garden Grill in Epcot, among other places that we don't know yet.

Please give all information you can on this.

My wife and I where at WDW for our honeymoon, here is my advice for what it’s worth.

1. We got free deserts everywhere we mentioned our honeymoon (always sit down restaurants.) Usually a slice of cake with a message like “congratulations” scrolled on the plate in chocolate. They keep them at the ready in all the restaurants, so while they do look nice and it is awesome they give them to you, it’s not like they are making it special for you.

2. Our waiter at Cinderella’s said we should have mentioned it when we made our PS (you know about Priority Seating I assume.) He took care of us anyway though, got us the free desert and a pair of Cinderella champagne glasses (still on our mantel.)

3. Our resort (the Contemporary) had chocolate, balloons, a frame (Mickey & Minnie wedding frame, retail $20) and an autographed picture with well wishes from Mickey and Minnie. Our travel agent mentioned it was our honeymoon when she booked for us, if you do it yourself, make sure they note it when you book, and casually mention it when you check in, the front desk should pick up on it.

Here is a partial list of the best (IMHO) restaurants in WDW:

Magic Kingdom

Lunch
Liberty Tree Tavern
Only if you can order off the menu, rather than the buffet…menu good, buffet not so good.

Dinner
Cinderella’s
Great food, awesome atmosphere, no booze 

Epcot

Lunch
Le Cellar (sp) in Canada
Great food, nice atmosphere, very friendly folks, this is also good for dinner.

Dinner
Alfredo’s in Italy
Go for the all in one meal, it gets you pasta, salad, entrée, and desert for a great price.

The Japanese Steak house (sorry, forgot the name) in Japan
A well done, cook at the table experience. The tables seat like ten, so you will be with others.

Drinks
Rose and Crown
Bass, Guinness, and what not

DISNEY STUDIOS

Lunch
Mama Rosa’s on NY st.
Good home style Italian

50’s Prime Time Café
Great atmosphere, Mom’s cooking

Diner
Brown Derby
High end eats

Animal Kingdom

Lunch
Tusker House in Aftica
Good stuff

Dinner
No Go, they close too early

Resorts

Contemporary
Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner
Concourse Steak House

Poly
Dinner
Ohana’s
Really, really, really good

Downtown Disney
Ghirardelli Soda Fountain
Simply the best

Places Not to Eat (IMHO)

Wolfgang Puck, any of the two (or is it 3) restaurants at Downtown Disney
Over priced, average food, and sub-standard service.

Grand Floridian
Any Restaurant
Not that the food is bad, quite the contrary, great food but the choices are just not for everybody.

Contemporary
California Grill
(See Grand Fl)
Great view though, go up for drinks or go out to the observation deck and watch the MK fireworks

Any of the Rainforest Cafes (AK or DTD)
They used to be great, but a while back they got bought out by the company that owns Joe’s Crab Shack and Capn’ D’s. Now the Rainforest menu is crap, the drinks are small and watered down, and the service is so so. The atmosphere is still cool, if anything just go in for a drink at the bar and check it out.

Cosmic Ray’s in the Magic Kingdom
A counter service place that is too big for its own good. If you want good counter service in the MK, go to Pecos Bills over in Frontierland. Always great.

Sci-fi Drive Inn
Just don’t ok, that’s all I’m sayin’

Well,
That’s a bit more than I started out to say, but I hope you have a great time, I know you will. Congratulations on the Wedding!

Thanks FnGoofy....we'll be going for 14 nights in November for our Honeymoon, and we were kind of curious as to whether you get treated different on your moneymoon there.

Of course we're going to do the cheesy top hat and veil with ears but it wouldn't be as much fun without them :)

Yeah, my wife and I were married down there in November of 2001, and then stayed the next week after that for our honeymoon. Unfortunately, we didn't tell anuone we were newleyweds voluntarily, but when it came up in conversation we were treated very well.:D

.....and yeah, thanks fngoofy for that info. That was quite a post!

OH yeah...i almost forgot...if you're newlyweds, you have to go to the Hoopdy-doo-revue. You get special treatment and a dance with other honeymooners :)

You are much more adventurous than my fiance, he said he probably won't have the guts to wear the top hat! I was so disappointed! :veryconfu:

Anyway, thanks for all the great info FnGoofy! We'll be going there on our honeymoon in late Sept and we were hoping to get some star treatment. We're also doing the Romance Package so that'll be fantastic too!
Oh and I just have to ask, why don't you like the Sci-Fi Diner at MGM??? I LOVE that place! The atmosphere is fantastic! Sorry for the thread drift, but I just HAVE to know! :D

We went for our honeymoon in May 2001. We got chocolate and an autographed picture of Minnie & Mickey left in our room and when we had PS they always decorated out table. At Tony's Town Square they make you stand in front of the restaurant while they sing "That's Amore" to you and you're supposed to kiss at the end and they take your picture at that moment.

Whenever you make PS arrangements mention that it's your honeymoon and they will do special things for you.
Also, buy the book "Walt Disney World For Couples"---there's a lot of neat romantic ideas in that book that you'll want to do.

When we went for our honeymoon, we mentioned it to the front desk at check in, and they could have cared less. We never got crap, not even a congratulations.

That's unfortunate. I'm sorry. The CM was probably not a good one then.

I dis the Sci-fi drive in due to the food. I agree that the atmosphere is cool, just not worth the indigestion.

Good point on mentioning the honeymoon thing when booking your PSs. We would just let it drop with the server. Either way definatly mention it to someone.

I forgot that we also got a round of free drinks in the Vero Beach restaurant, but I think that was the server's doing, her thoughtfulness was reflected in her tip. I don't think free booze will happen within WDW.

Oh, and on the honeymoon mouse ears...
How should I say this....

They are not the coolest head gear available....

Not to sound like a snob, but you may want to hold off on those, they just didn't do anything for those I've seen wearing them.

PPS
On the resort issue, make sure they have it noted on your reservation. Before you go, just call and ask, do you have it noted that we are on our honeymoon. As long as it shows up in the computer, they will take care of you.

honeymoon

Well, our reservations are listed as "honeymoon". However, I didn't tell the rep that was making our priority seating. Should I call back and confirm and while confirming, mention it?

We're going for 15 nights. We'll be there from March 22 - April 06. We're actually going to be pretty worn out when we get there though. We're getting married in SW Florida at 6:00 the night of the 22, then going to our reception, leaving our reception around 10:00 and then headed 3 1/2 hours north to Orlando. I'm sure the sleep will come much much later though :slurp: Sorry, i had to say it.

Anyways, Im so excited i can't stand it but I would absolutely love some special stuff for our honeymoon.

We'll be at CBR, anyone know anything in particular they do there for honeymoons?

Perks

The CM's were just amazing to us, I don't even know where to begin. Lots of free deserts and free drinks at dinner! Just a wonderful, wonderful time. If I could do it all over, I would never even think about going anywhere else. My suggestion it tell everyone. We were on a package and they gave us Honeymoon Lanyards that held our room key. It was by far the most incredible vacation experience I have ever had!!!!!

I have to disagree. My wife and I make sure to have dinner at the Califonia Grill on every trip. We come out of there TOTALLY satisfied.

Also, another good time to mention that you are on your Honeymoon is when you are checking in at your airline's gate. We got upgraded to first class on our Honeymoon. The CSA told us that if they know someone is on their Honeymoon and they have space they will always upgrade them FOC.

our plans

This is for the previous questions about how people make honeymoon plans.

We made our plans like normal......but we just mentioned it was our honeymoon. I notice on our confirmation sheets it shows "honeymoon couple" listed in the notes...........so im assuming something nice will be in our room when we get there.
