Hey I'm seriously BRAND NEW here and I would like to know anything and EVERYTHING there is to know about special perks or stuff or places to go when you honeymoon at WDW. My FH and I are going to be staying at the AKL in July (I know, the heat...):hammer: and we're already planning on ordering the bride and groom ears. :DI was just hoping people could give us some tips as to what and where we should go, or maybe expect when we arrive at WDW. Also, how would you let them know we were on our honeymoon?? Hmm...

We visited for our honeymoon in '06. Quite a few times we were given free sodas and snacks, plus a few desserts and table decorations at dinners. I would suggest getting the "Just Married" buttons that are given away at guest relations as the hats can get really hot and annoying but are still a fun keepsake. We were given them after a CM saw us with our bride/groom ears on. Be prepared to say thank you A LOT as many, many people congratulate you. Also, we were sent to the front of the line on a few occcasions.

Just some suggestions for romance...parasailing on Bay Lake, the Wishes fireworks cruise (which we loved) and dinner at the California Grill. Even the simplest (and free!) things are romantic, like waiting for the Magic Kingdom to empty out, watching the Kiss Goodnight and walking down an almost empty Main Street. Have fun!

Thanks so much, I didn't even realize you could get buttons! That's so groovy! :) My FH and I don't mind that they will get hot or whatever. (The ears) I'm surprised people actually stop to congratulate newlyweds!:D I'm so excited about our trip!!

I just got back from my honeymoon in WDW. When we checked in (also at the AKL) we mentioned it was our honeymoon and they got the 'Just Married' badges for us. These badges got us constant "congratulations" from Cast Members and strangers in the park. It's really nice when people just wan't to wish you well.

We also regstered at WDW (check out Disney's honeymoon registry) so we had a 'just married' gift card as well as the badges. These combined meant that on top of everyone being so nice to us we also got plenty of free deserts, ice cream and drinks (we even got free champagne glasses from CRT).

A word of advice, we ate at Hoop Dee Doo and Spirit of Aloha and both times the cast noticed our pins and got us dancing in front of everyone. I doubt they would force you if you didn't want to do it be just be prepaired for lots of attention (if you dont want that then hide the badge!)

If you've never been to WDW before then some advice for you. Book a table at restaurants you want to eat in ASAP. They get busy and a nice meal at the end of the day is always nice.

If you've got any honeymoon questions feel free to PM me.

No matter what you will have a great time!

P.S - Welcome back Philo, have a good honeymoon?!

I sure did! The AKL was wonderful. An absolutly beautiful place with a terrific atmosphere. I had read a couple of negative reports about it on trip advisor but I can only assume that the reviewers were a bit crazy! The CM's were fantastic and the rooms were themed so well. I know people complained about them being quite dark (and they are) but that's part of the thememing and helps to make it magic. The busses we're fantastic - We could get to the MK in around 20 minutes without a problem! Just a tip, if you order room service try not to knock the plate of food on the floor!

We also stayed in the Wilderness Lodge which was also brilliant and, as a bonus, we were given a room overlooking the castle and a signed 'congratulations' card from minnie and mickey. Overall I prefer WL but that's only because I like the fact it's next to Bay Lake and offers a boat service.

Around the parks we had a great time. Every few minutes a CM or a guest congratulated us on the wedding and many of them we're keen to hear all the details. We were also lucky enough to bump into Wes Palm who we had a nice chat with. When we weren't being congratulated we were being given free ice creams, free drinks, free deserts (which came with etched chocolate 'congratulations' decoration) and even free champagne glasses. Going in to the Hollywood Studios we were stopped by a CM who said "come with me" - we were taken to a back room for photos with Donald and Daisy! Photopass photographers are also keen to make you play up to the camera - always fun and whilst at the World of Disney a CM told us we had a phone call. When we picked up the phone we had a cute message from minnie and mickey who we're very interested in our wedding cake.

All our meals were wonderful and often came with free things as above and/or table decorations. We always got great seats (right next to the glass in Coral Reef) and great service and this was all without telling them it was our honeymoon before hand.

Overall, a truly magical time and Disney did so much to make sure it was everything we had hoped for and more.

In case you haven't already, call back on your room ressie and add the remark that it is for your honeymoon. Confirm that at check in as well. Whenever you make dining ADR's, also mention the occasion. That and the buttons do wonders.
