Honestly, how bad is the Green Line for Mission:Space?

Hi Folks-

I'll be in Disney with my family in November and my son, who will be 9 at the time of the trip, really wants to do Mission:Space. He loves thrill rides and anything to do with space-but Mom and Dad get a little queasy. How bad is the green line for those of us who tend to feel motion sick on spinny rides?
Thanks!

I agree with the above assessment. I think Star Tours makes me a little more queasy because of how big the screen is compared to Mission SPACE. Of course, everyone is different but it basically makes me feel like I'm in an enclosed area, watching a small screen, and rocking back and forth a bit.

I haven't ridden green in two years (I starting going on orange and won't go back), but I recall it being essentially close up Star Tours.

If you get motion sick at all on anything, I think this will affect you. I don't ever get motion sick, but the green line did a job on me that day. Star Tours for me is nothing though. It all depends on how the different types of rides affect you. If you are worried, I would let him ride by himself. Walk him through the line and wait for him at the exit.

Thanks so much for your input-I did feel queasy on Star Tours but will definitely be going on it again so will probably survive Mission:Space as well. One thing that I did not do on my last trip to Disney but have since started to do is to wear sea bands to amusement parks-which seems to help me a bit

I've also ridden both and If I'm not mistaken, Green still rocks you side-to-side and back and forth. The only thing it's missing is the simulated G-force acceleration part, which, if you look straight forward like you're supposed to, isn't the element that gets you queasy.

In my opinion, both versions are extremely lame, but at least orange has the virtue of being a little unique. If you think you might get sick, I'd just send your son through orange and wait until he comes out. That way, he gets to ride the "good" version and you don't ruin your afternoon for the sake of Disney's most disappointing attraction.

I have never done the green option but it would seem to me that that would be worse for motion sickness than the orange as you are not getting the corresponding g-forces.

One thing I found interesting is I had a few friends who were opening CM's for that ride and they noted that the number of people who felt sick went up dramatically when the warnings stating that the ride spins went up. There is no spinning sensation on the ride but apparently when people think they are spinning it seems to make people more sick. Perhaps subconsciously because your telling yourself your spinning and this doesn't match up to the sensations you are feeling you actually make it worse for yourself.

Green is not nearly as bad as Star Tours.... I will sometime get queasy on Star Tours to the point that I just close my eyes. If you do start feeling queasy just close your eyes and it won't be as bad. I've been on boats and planes that have made everyone around me puke and never had a problem but if what you are seeing is out of sync with what you are feeling it makes me queasy as all get out so for me closing my eyes stops the problem on Star Tours because sometimes the video and motion aren't quite right.

Now if you are like my wife and get sick simply from movement then closing your eyes won't help... but if you can do Star Tours Mission Space is a piece of cake.

I'm not saying it doesn't work for you, but for most people, closing their eyes is the worst possible course of action for avoiding queasiness on rides like this.

I don't know why, but green still feels like there is g force, but everything I read says it is stationary.

It may help a little, but any simulator ride sit in the middle. The motions of movement are less closest to the center.

It is stationary in that the green centrifuges don't spin, but its pods do pitch and roll.
When the pod pitches forward and tilts you on your back, combined with the visuals, you'd get the sensation of g-forces.

It's amazing how you still get the sendation even though the ride wasn't designed to be stationary...

I have done orange without issue, and me and my 12 year old DD do green without any adverse effects. That said, my DW (@awheartsdw) didn't like green at all after doing it once. It truly is a subjective issue

I'm very susceptible to motion sickness and was reticent to ever venture near Mission Space, however last summer I finally just broke down and tried the Orange side and to my surprise experienced zero issues.

Which is hysterical because the Tea Cups make me violently ill to this day.

I am the same way. Even the spinners like Dumbo make me feel off. I have narrowed it down to being able to see that I am spinning. The Kennedy Space Center had/has a simulator similar to M:S. (it was much smaller and held only 2 people) I was fine through the entire thing, but they open your door prior to the motion of the ride ceasing. I nearly lost my lunch when that happened.
