I have an 8mm home movie of walt disney at Disneyland. It was shot in 1955 at the opening of Disneyland. It also includes my grandmother sitting next to Walt on a tram. They were filming some kind of a short. Is this valuable at all????

I would contact the Disney family museum. They may be interested. The Walt Disney Company probably would take it if you gave it to them, but it's not so much about Walt anymore other than the image they have already created.

Have it converted to a digital format - whatever it costs - and save a copy for yourself in a fireproof safe. Like @sweetpee_1993 said, it's the MOST valuable to you. But the world would enjoy seeing it too. Once you digitize it, share it on YouTube and come back here to post the link :)

I agree that you should convert it and contact the Walt Disney Family Museum to see if it's interested in a copy. New footage of Walt should be shared with the world. :)

Thanks for the suggestions. I will contact the museum to see if there is any interest in the film. About converting it.... I thought it would be best in it's original condition. But it is something to consider!

That original film will continue to deteriorate. I would get have it professionally restored as well. There are some really charming videos on You Tube of the parks in the early years. Personally I love to watch them more than once.
