Hollywood & Vine Seasonal Dine

Hey everyone! We are in the final countdown to our first ever WDW trip and I have a question about Hollywood & Vine.

I booked an ADR there for the Seasonal Dine/Fantasmic package thinking that a buffet + characters + fireworks was a no-brainer. Since then, I've heard so many less than stellar things about that restaurant and have heard it referred to as 'Hollywood & Vile' a bunch.

My questions..... Is it really that bad? Has anyone had a GOOD experience there they can share?

I don't really want to cancel the ADR so close to the trip and I've already checked to see if I could do the same package at Mama Melrose's or Brown Derby instead (I can't. No openings) so mostly I just want to have realistic expectations. Give it to me straight!

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
I personally would prefer the other 2 HBD and MM, but if that's all you can get right now I would go with that. Keep trying though for an opening every day. It's just a standard buffet with characters and nothing special but everyone has to try things for themselves. Some like it and some don't, like pretty much every restaurant on property you will get mixed reviews. For example some don't like the signature restaurant Cali Grill! Crazy but some don't for whatever reason but me and the hubby absolutely love it! ;)

I didn't think it was that bad. Not stellar or anything, just the same foods you can get at every other buffet. But for us the characters are worth it since I hate waiting in a line just to get a picture. This way you can eat while they come to you :D

We had dinner at H&V twice with F! dining package. The first trip DH raved about how much he loved the food so we booked it again. Last trip we had a bad waitress (CM), the food wasn't as good/not as many choices it seemed/and now it's a character meal, so it cost more. Over $300 for 5 adults...

However, we will be back with 9 or 10 adults in a couple of years, because we always book the F! package & we want the family going with us to get a character meal while they are there, so we're killing two birds with one stone & hoping the service & food is better next time.

I too had heard the stories about "Hollywood & Vile" but booked the Seasonal dine this past December for the character aspect since they'd be in Christmas outfits. We really enjoyed the buffet and the dining reviews I read for it on a few blogs beforehand said that it seemed they'd stepped up the usual fare (I can't speak to that since due to all the derision I'd avoided it before and have no comparison). I'll be back at WDW in October and wouldn't hesitate to consider getting another ADR.

I would not cancel it. I use to hear the same things about the restaurant we had reservations their for breakfast and over slept so we made it right when they were switching to lunch same menu as dinner I was so worried it would be bad. But actually we enjoyed everything we are very happy don't always take everyone's opinion. I don't think you should stress. Keep us posted though on your opinion

It's not that bad of a place to eat. It's typical buffet food, but the great part is that you get to see the characters all dressed up in fancy clothes. It's pricey at $55/person, but it's a great experience; all you can eat is just a bonus.

I like it. We have young kids and they enjoy it. No, it's not a fancy restaurant but the food is good, it's all you can eat, and they have great character interactions.

It's not a QS price, so that keeps some people away but it's handy because when my wife gets hungry we usually can get a walk up table. Characters are cute, food is good, and the decor is 50's diner chic.

I would not cancel. I really enjoyed the characters and the buffet is pretty good. Nothing out of the ordinary, but overall I think you will have a good time and enjoy your meal.

We've eaten there before and do not think it's that bad. Like others have said, it's standard buffet type food, but in my opinion, not "vile" at all. I'm curious, what time is your dinner? Were you able to get a good time? We did the package at Mama Melrose's and were only able to get an odd time - I think it was 3:00.

Our dinner ADR is for 6:20pm.
