Hollywood Studios New Entrance? Pictures

Hey Everyone was at the world this weekend and thought I would give an update on the construction on Lake Buena Vista Dr. The treelines have been already cleared back quite aways from the eastbound shoulder and cement barricades have been installed from the Hollywood Studios entrance all the way down to victory way. Also the right turn lane closest to the side of the road leaving the Studios was closed off by cones.
The interesting thing is they have cleared what appears to be some new road off of Victory Way heading west towards the Studios. With the rumors about a new entrance to the Hollywood Studios any thought?

This picture was taken facing west off of Victory Way

Interesting. I wonder.

So far as I know, the BVD entrance will be closed to all but busses. 192 cars will enter the main plaza off World Drive as normal, resort traffic will use a new slip from Osceola Blvd onto the main plaza slip.

Exit will still be onto BVD.

Anyone know more?

Perhaps this photo can help... Its taken straight from the Reedy Creek Improvement District's Comprehensive Plan

Green= Class II Wetlands (requires lots of work to develop)
You can see theres a break in the green where perhaps the new road is being built? Can anyone confirm the location?

Yeah that location is right. It doesn't look big enough to be a public road though, and the way it is bordered by tress makes it look like a service road. I was thinking maybe busses only as a shortcut to Victory Way.

Is there a map layout on how this is going to work?

If they were to add a new entrance where they are clearing it would lead right up to where the tram lane is. More than likely all traffic from I-4/192 would be directed onto Osceola Parkway and then Victory Way all they would have to do would be to add another left turn lane from Osceola to Victory Way. The toll plaza and entrance sign would be demolished (they could more the booths themselves to the new auto plaza) and all traffic from Lake Buena Vista Drive would be directed onto Victory Way. They could also make a second exit where they are clearing now so those leaving Disney property via Osceola/World/192 could do so more easily while those staying on property could still use the current exit. This would also open up the space where the current plan auto plaza is for future development. My thoughts

That sounds about right and would make sense. Currently, the buses get caught in too much traffic going out the "one and only exit". Allowing them to use Victory Way should free up some congestion.

That position would not work well for buses could work for an exit for the southern half of the parking lot, including cast parking. A quick funnel one-way that goes out to Victory Lane and then just makes a right only to head to Osceola Pkwy. Buses are not well placed to make it to that position. But that could work to cut some of the traffic headed to the main exit. Still not sure it is not going to be any more than a construction service road, though.

Nail on the head! The Auxiliary plaza (What we call it) will be used for WDW Buses only. Exit will still be out that direction. They just finished repaving the Aux. entrance to go along with the project. It will be alot easier for those Cast Members working DHS parking, and will improve guest satisfaction (since they wont look at the Stage parking lot and be like "Why cant we park there!")

This.

The plans for this have been posted (and I think public) for some time now.. about 15 months that I am aware of..

The only thing with that road is that it is south of the back entrance, so it wouldn't really be doing anything different. It is interesting that it continues over world drive.

I think that disney could use that land for a larger parking lot, it would though involve building a newer kind of parking lot. Disney would need to have a permeable paving material needed to avoid excessive runoff.

OK, perhaps I am being a bit dense or just had one too many ales to figure this out, but...

Driving a car from any MK, Epcot, or DTD area resort, you will now need to:

1) take Buena Vista Drive
2) turn on Victory Way
3) turn on Osceala Pkwy
4) enter the to-be-built access to the main entrance that comes off World Drive

Seems like going around your elbow to get to your thumb. Guess we'll be taking the bus to DHS more often, now.
