Hollywood Studios - major issues.

Hollywood Studios was our first park of our holiday, and while I had a great time regardless it has some major issues.

1) the park layout is a nightmare, you double back on yourself causing just a mess of crowds.

2) Muppet vision is boring and the waiting area is a nightmare.

3) beauty and the beast is not great and is out dated.

4) the merch is all over the place.

5) TSL feels unfinished.

6) the lines for fantasmic are confusing!

I usually don’t go for these kinds of complaint posts, but fair points in general, honestly.

I do like Muppet Vision and Beauty and the Beast is enjoyable, but I agree they need TLC.

TSL feels cheap more than unfinished to me. It doesn’t even feel like a Disney area.

Fantasmic has always felt somewhat disorganized and a free for all.

I think park layout is kind of bad now, but should improve when it actually completely opens.

HS is our favourite!

The layout will improve as the work finishes. It involved lots of walking but I don't mind that.

Muppets is lame but the area is cool, a little update wouldn't go amiss.

TSL was great! What feels unfinished/cheap? I've done the Paris one so maybe I'm looking at it differently?

Fantasmic, this is one we agree on! FP+ doesn't seem to get you anything and it really is a free for all.

I agree about the layout but every thing else is simply opinion.

I love muppet vision. I definitely love it more than the great movie ride. lol But I did want to ask how is the waiting area a "nightmare". you stand there and look at goofy skits on a tv?

I love Beauty and the beast show also. Not sure as how you would "update" it as the story is the story. The movie hasn't been updated so what's to update?

I do agree with Andrew, I definitely wouldn't use a fp+ for fantasmic. we always make it a point to get to the amphitheater 45-60 minutes before the show, so we never have an issue with confusion.

I enjoyed TSL, I didn't like how the entrance is pretty narrow so it's always crowded. I enjoyed the theme, the colors are vivid and great (lol, I took about 150 pics here alone) One thing I really enjoyed was that there was a lot of "live" entertainment in the form of the green army men. Saw the drumline and the circus type act. Slinky dog was a very pleasant surprise, no not a major coaster but definitely enough to be enjoyable. the alien ride was probably the least like but then I don't do things that twirl me around, don't do the teacups.

When galaxy edge comes on line the park is going to be great.

Replace it.

I'm usually a big defender of DHS. But stage shows are easy, cheap, and quick to replace. There's no reason for them to stick around for more than three to five years. Beauty and the Beast has been going for 27. When they offered the Music of Pixar Live in that theater last summer, it was probably the best experience I've had in a Disney theme park in years.

I don't feel the layout is going to get much better any time soon. Even when Galaxy's Edge opens it will probably be so crowded that Muppets and TSL will still be dead ends for a lot of people.

Oh ok, that's different. I thought he meant update it, like the muppets are totally updateable since they've done so many other things.

I call Beauty and the Beast one of Disney's "anchors", those things that are not going away because no matter how many times we've seen them there is still a new guest who has not and the movie is ridiculously popular and recognizable. Can't tell you how many times last week we saw a little girl in a belle costume. Frozen is now another. It reminds me of Lion king on Broadway, that thing has been there for what, 20, 25 years. lol

Yeah! my turn to disagree. I love both the Muppets and TGMR ( may it rest in piece). The string of movie clips at the end always got my blood to start rushing.

Did anyone else have a really hard time finding things in HS, like specific rides or shops? We couldn't find our way at all in this park, but we aren't sure whether we should blame that on our lack of sleep (this was our first park we went to after our plane landed) or whether it was a confusing layout.

Not at all but we have been there many times so we know where most stuff is. ToT and RnR are basically easy to find.
Also I'm more of a meander so as far as shops go, I just kind of walk and mosey in and out as the feeling hits. I rarely am looking for a "specific" shop.

Muppets pre show might be one of the best things at HS. But, as always, everyone has their own taste!

As far as beauty and the beast show goes, I literally have no idea what kind of timeline would be for a replacement, but I agree that it could happen, just as Frozen "broadway-esque" show came to DCA. I did love the Music of Pixar Live as an offering and they could always incorporate something similar, but I think there will always be a broadway style show to occupy this space for the foreseeable future.

HS has always been a favorite of mine too.

Star Tours is in my top 5 rides in WDW. (my opinion)
The Indiana Jones show....sure, we've all seen it a LOT, but remember that first time? Awesome, wasn't it?
Backstage Tour - man I loved Catastrophe Canyon part...
Muppets are just fun - still like it
All the Star Wars stuff they have how (and whats to come) are awesome

Its definitely an evolving park, but when its all finished, it will definitely be back in all its glory again!

(we are there in 9 weeks, will be first time seeing TSL, and looking forward to that!)

Probably the extreme lack of sleep then. By the time we got to the park we had gone about 30 hours without any sleep (both of us were too excited to sleep the night before) and couldn't find the nose on our face if you asked us.

There's really no excuse for them not to update things like Muppet Vision.

It's not that it's bad, but it's honestly embarrassing how outdated it is.

A show extolling the wonders of 3D technology? Really? At a time when 3D movies are extremely common, it feels so old.

The story and characters all hold up, but honestly, how hard would it be to make a new 10-minute film?

For every person bored with a ride/attraction....there's a thousand that its their favorite.

Not everything is for everyone, although we all have things called opinions
I mean, that’s true, but we also have this thing called Disney show quality.

Disney’s history of delivering amazing experiences, attractions, and theming matters.

As hard as changing the Carousel of Progress family clothes to modern in the final scene.
