I worked studio parking when I was in the college program. That row was probably not left empty on purpose. What happens is one guest does not like being pointed down to the far end of the row, so he decides to ignore the CM’s and park on the close end of the next row. Once one person does this it is very hard to stop the masses coming in behind him; so you end up with an empty (or half empty) row.

Yes, becasue the last thing we expect to do when visiting the massive space that is a Disney theme park is have to walk. If I can't park near the gate then why bother. Which brings me to...
