Rumor Hollywood insiders say there's growing tension at Disney as CEO Bob Chapek chafes at Bob Iger's 'long goodbye'

D'Anaro has zero media experience (which is crucial for the job), is a revenue management guy by training, and came up through Chapek at CP, and is loyal to him for giving him these huge career jumps.

Besides being a nice guy, have no clue why anybody thinks that is a good choice as we've seen the outcome of his decisions as "Chairman" of the parks division.

But, but, he took a selfie with me!!!!!!
With only two years at this level, I don't think they'd promote him. But just as you couldn't blame Chapek for all the cuts when he didn't make the calls you can't really blame D'Amaro. However, ever executive can't have experience in every area. He wouldn't need media experience if he hired a #2 with the appropriate background.

You can now lock Chapek into these things because he's in the big chair and he's doubled down on every penny-pinching thing that we started worrying about 10 years ago.

FWIW I have no personal relationship with Mr. D'Amaro or ties to him. Sometimes all we have is hope. At least he tries not to be a head.

Maybe. Repeat customers are not high on their priority list. As long as the "one and dones" keep showing up, they could care less.
What you you guess the percentage of “one and done” are on property in a given day?
I doubt that. They want ALL types of guests.
They want the frequenters a “certain way”…and it’s not “our way”

Remind me what annual pass I can purchase on a payment plan or otherwise?
Do you think that's a permanent thing? Do you think when they start selling them again that they won't offer payment plans? Do you think that's a short term thing complicated by getting things back to regular scale park operations?

I think a choice has been made. New pass new pricing model with limited availability and the reservation system stays so no unlimited pass as that opens them up to class action suits for non performance of a contract.
The reservation system is what they use for a park that can't field staff to control crowds not halting pass sales. Why do you think they have?
They have no interest in offering discounts (passes) to draw in people that want discounts.

I never mentioned a word about unlimited passes. Are they going to offer APs? Will they offer payment plans when they are back?

What was a gold AP but unlimited?
I edited my earlier post to include the thought they do not need or want to offer discounts to attract those who want discounts

They don't right now because they are still not up to full capacity because of the pandemic. That will eventually shake out and they will be discounting again. Remaining restaurants will open. Stock will catch up and stores will be full stocked again. Staff will be back to 100% and they will be able to raise max capacity to where it was before. And they will want guests of all financial levels, right up to the point they would need to close to capacity.

That is a story, Bob claims to be a story teller. He might be right
Did you see where I said it is the reservation system they use to control in park demand for all those things you listed? Can't sell a pass to a park you can't provide and the reservation system is not leaving.

Oh, the reservation system definitely isn't leaving. But that doesn't mean they won't keep increasing capacity back up to prior levels as soon as they are able.

Sure they do. And the not so well heeled. And the poor and putting it on credit cards. Until every day is at capacity, they take all comers.

If they only wanted the well heeled, they never would have come up with payment plans for APs.

Lol…payment plans were only to Florida residents. The lowest rung on the food chain.

You aren’t under the impression they have lined their pockets on Florida APs on payment plans, are you?

That’s nothing

Just got back from studios for the first time this year and WTH. Half the park still feels closed. Launch Bay is a joke and every other shop is boarded up. They could easily increase capacity here by putting something worthwhile in the old animation building and opening all the stores. But yah.

Yeah that but that costs money…and everyone else there next to you was paying FAR more to be there today on average than they had before. I’m guessing somewhere around 25-35% total all in over 2019 prices
