Hollywood and Vine closing for breakfast

I just got off the phone with Disney Dining and was informed that from Jan. 9 - Mar. 6, 2011 Hollywood and Vine will not be serving breakfast.
The lady said she didn't have any information as to why it won't be open for breakfast, but it can't be a refurb because it's still open for lunch and dinner during this time.

My guess would be that demand is very low for breakfast here during the "off season". We went this past January at around 10 am and there were seriously 3 other families in the restaurant the whole time we were there. I don't think my son even really ate because Jojo and Goliath kept coming over to play with him and pulling him away from the table to do the conga line dance. It really is a shame if this breakfast becomes seasonal or something like that because breakfast there is a must do for us every year.

Our family liked it better than Chef Mickey's.

You get (got) a lot more character interaction!

How is the Donald breakfast at Tusker House, is it more like H&V or CM?

Tusker House breakfast is great! Thought they had a lot to choose from. Probably the only place we'll eat at AK (TS) unless we go elsewhere after an early close. Hard to me to compare to HV or CM, as I have had breakfast at neither.

I suppose it does probably make "business sense", but
It still stinks not having any TS breakfast options at DHS for our vacation.

The characters are still Jojo? We were there a few years ago when Jojo's Circus and Little Einsteins were really popular and they were there. I diodn't think they were still even on tv?

OOOHHHH!!!

Maybe they are gonna update the Playhouse Disney characters!!! I dont even think JoJo comes on anymore.

We could get Handy Manny, Agent OSO, all 4 Einsteins, Darby (with pooh) and there could be more.

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Drew81 just posted in another thread that starting in October (I believe thats when it said) Oso will take the place of Jojo.
So after that takes place it will be Oso, Handy Manny, June and Leo.

this reduction in breakfast service across the world is something thats been going on the past several years.

first, boatwrights stop serving. tragic. then maya grill shut down their buffet for an ala carte service even though pepper market is only 20 feet away. i was heartbroken. breakfast is probably my favorite meal and i need an all you can eat situation. thankfully i finish grad school soon and perhaps ill upgrade myself to a deluxe resort in the future. WL and AKL still have sit down, all you can eat affairs. i simply cant eat a McBreakfast for 12 bucks at the cs restaurants and then i still leave hungry when the buffets are only a few bucks more. the maya grill buffet was my life every morning for more than 7 trips and im very sad to see it go.

At Hollywood and Vine the characters stayed out almost the entire time and made several stops at each table. They did songs and dances too.

At Chef Mickey's, about midway through the meal the characters came out, made one round and that was it.

I was really disappointed.

Hopefully Tusker House will be better.

Tusker House had the characters continuously revolving around the restaurant on a pretty regular basis. Plus, every hour there was a little conga line of the characters and kids being formed to dance down the aisles. It was very nice for the little ones....

Try the cabins at FW. They are in the moderate price catagory and have a good breakfast buffet at the Trails End and it is the cheapest on property.

UPDATE: Play 'n' Dine at Hollywood and Vine will NOT be closing for breakfast Jan-Mar. The Reservation Center has the wrong information. There will be a refurbishment going on backstage, but service will not be interrupted.

Agreed! There are very few places to get a good breakfast anymore. Yes, I know, each deluxe has a sit down, but just one. And forget eating anything other than quick service at a mod or value.

Then why are they still unable to make breakfast reservations for this time? I just got off the phone with dining and they still have nothing available.
