HOLES is Great Classic Disney; and Who Cares if it May be Too Mature for Some?

I saw HOLES this past week and, I must say, it is the best live-action film by WDP in years; very reminiscent, I thought, of Disney live-action flicks from the '70's and '80's. HOLES is the type of movie that WDP needs to make more of (And less MAX KEEBLE-esque garbage). Parents today who complain that HOLES is too mature for Walt Disney Pictures obviously don't remember OLD YELLER, SWISS FAMILY ROBINSON, TREASURE ISLAND, WHITE FANG, WHITE FANG II, IRON WILL, etc. So much "consistently" low budget stuff has come out of WDP over the past decade, people have forgotten the great Disney live-action films.

I came into the movie theater thinking that this movie would tray from the book but infact, it kept right along with it.. Very well directed and written.. Nice work! :)

Like I said in my review (in another thread), the film may be a little too mature for some but it makes way for Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.

With HOLES, POTC and the upcoming DAVY CROCKETT (w/Billy Bob Thorton, I believe), let's hope that the live-action department of WDP finally gets a looooooooooooooooooooooong overdue boost!
Now ... about getting their label off those sacreligious animated sequels; you know, restoring more of their reputation? :)

Holes was great. Good to get back to a true "family" film, that is does not talk down to kids.

Remember, the "classics" like "Old Yeller" were kids' movies that recognized that kids could deal with trauma and problems realistically, if depicted properly.

Holes was great, I repeat. I also like the way that it kept you guessing (if you did not read the book). It was intelligently written. (Yes, I know that the screenwriter was the author of the book, perhaps a plus here. Hollywood did not dumb it down.)

Holes...what can I say...I just saw it this morning

Let me tell you what I thought about it...

By watching the previews I thought it was a "Made for TV" movie...

By watching the entire movie...I must say...this is NOT a "Made for TV" movie.

This movie (although, without reading the book, I could tell that there were "pieces" missing) is the type of movie that keeps unraveling from beginning to end...but unlike most movies, this one made YOU piece it all together on your own.

How many "Lightning Bolts" does this Freak give it?

Freak's Weekend Review of "Holes":
7.5 bolts out of 10

Went to see it yesterday with my kid's.
I did not think it was too mature,,I thought it was great and it didn't seem like it was trying to talk down to kid's.
I would give it two thumbs way up.:D

This is what I was thinking! The previews do nothing for the movie (from what I've heard anyway).
