I feel the ride is worthy of E ticket status but I can understand why some would say D ticket, I mean remember it is just a "train" ride right . Overall however from the moment you enter Kings Cross to when you disembark the Hogwarts Express in Hogsmeade is an E ticket experience. I've ridden it 7 times now and it gives me goosebumps each time. Its an incredible experience that cannot be missed. I whole heartedly believe that by the end of the year after fans have ridden it, many will argue its the most authentic theme park ride ever created. Yes its that good!

Ticket designation was based on popularity, no? Not any sort of subjective quality? There won't be much to discuss in that case. The mere thought of waiting in line for this thing scares me.

Popularity could be an influence, but it was based on scope and scale of the project.

Lines have not been that bad in softs. Each train eats so many people that by the time each guest has been assigned a cab, the next train is ready for boarding. The line moves continuously like an omnimover.

The only downside so far is people stopping to take pictures. They have two attendants by the brick wall effect now begging people to stand to the side if they want a picture so the line can keep moving.

Seeing as they have to pay $30+ more to ride the train, it's the closest thing to an E-ticket Universal's ever had, price wise :P

(I'm NOT complaining by the way, just stating this from a different angle)

I just think that most people have no idea what went into this attraction. And are oblivious to a lot of the details. Like the clack-clack, clack-clack sound/thump that you hear and feel when a real train goes over a track joint. That doesn't exist on a Doppelmayr Funicular. They added the sound effect and physical bump to replicate the feel of traveling on a real steam train. So much of this attraction is incredibly subtle.
The fact that people are saying it's just a train ride shows how seamlessly Universal integrated all the elements.
