can anyone guess a time frame of how long they might be there? are they in sight or do you have to look hard for them?

im hoping they are just being re-painted cuz i love the one with the girl with her flowing hair and her opera glasses. LOL

madusa and april december are featured? i dont think ive seen them, i prolly have but dont remember. maybe we will get changing portraits too like right after you leave the stretching room.

thanks for the update!

whoops thanks. so theres actually 2 pics painted on it? like front and back?

Depending on the Pic, serval are painted and the light is slowly changed to each image making it look like it's the person painted wilting away to the bone or what ever. Like our friendly pirate up there would slowly rot untill he was bones in the second pic.

*edit* The images are each painted on one piece of scrim. then a light is placed in front of it to light it up and back of it to disappear. This trick is used all over HM. Like in the Graveyard. That's why they look smokey is because the scrim is between you and lit from the back by the AAs'. Simple trick, but it works.

When Disneyland refurbished their "Changing Portraits" a year ago, I heard they replaced the old projection scrims with flat-screen video monitors. Can anyone confirm this?

(Originally DL's portraits "flashed" with the lightning outside the window. But by the 90's, the pictures did a slow "dissolve" similar to WDW's Master Gracey, but with only 2 images, the "before and after". Now they flash again.)

Also, since the DL ride's opening, the changing portraits were April/December woman, Medusa, the ship, and Cat-woman. During the recent renovation there, April/December was taken out and replaced with WDW's Master Gracey (who, until then, never appeared in the DL Mansion)

Anyone know if the new WDW "changing portraits" will be video screens?

If so, I wonder if the original Master Gracey portrait in the foyer will also become a video screen?

Or could his image be removed from there and added to the new "Changing Portrait" gallery? (After all, won't it be over-kill to have a changing portrait in the foyer, more changing portraits on the ride, and possibly the Sinister Eleven portraits installed elsewhere in the mansion?)

Of course, that's assuming the rumors are true that WDW is getting a replica of DL's Changing Portrait gallery in the area formerly occupied by the Sinister Eleven.
