By the way does anyone know how many more expansion pads HKDL has?

Not counting the current expansion plan (ie : I am not counting the plots for Arendelle and Avengers as expansion pads since they are already officialised), I believe there are four expansion pads left for HKDL Phase 1. Of course, there is the whole phase 2 land thats sits across empty.

Out of these expansion possibilities, only two of them (site A and B) are proper pads as they are (almost) vacant parcels of lands awaiting for development. Site A is the biggest and the only one available for a proper land. It could become even bigger is some land that is reserved for the future Downtown Disney type area is used for this plot. Site B is too small for a proper land or mini-land but is a strategic site as it could be used to expand Arendelle, Toy Story Land, Fantasyland or even Adventureland. It could feature a proper E-ticket or a descent land expansion.

The next two parcels, C and D could be used for expansion if the current buildings were demolished. Site C, the biggest of the two, comprises of part of the land originally planned for Avengers and some temporary structures that currently house back-of-house facilities. This plot could either house an expansion of Tomorrowland or a new Mini-land but it is not the most accessible as it is located right behind Space Mountain and the Parade route. Parcel D is my personal favorite. By destroying the Tahitian Terrace (which is very very often closed), and plussing River View Cafe to take over its operations, HKDL could build a very needed dark ride to Adventureland on this parcel.

And Clopins Festival of Foods, Fantasy Gardens and Fairy Tale Forest could be used for small Fantasyland dark rides as well I thought?

I think FTF will stay since it's a recent addition. I could see them redeveloping the area (E) encompassing Fantasy Gardens, Clopin's and the nearby woods in the long run. Dotted line includes the Frozen expansion area.

Maybe they can build the Enchanted Forest from Frozen 2 in Site B
A Splash Mountain-type ride about how Anna and Olaf escaped from the Earth Giants maybe?
And then a walkthrough attraction illustrating the story of the Northuldra as well as showcasing the remaining three elements?
EDIT: or maybe a Omnimover dark ride instead of a walkthrough attraction if space allows --> the Pirate Cove plan will be back in the form of Frozen 😂

Alice dark ride to replace Fantasy Gardens and Peter Pan's Flight substituting Clopins in Parcel E!

More or less yes. However, I recently read an interview of Stephanie Young, Managing director of HKDL, that stated that construction costs had risen so the plan might end up being downscaled a little bit... (I will try to find the source)
It's not downscaled afaik. What Young said was more prudent cost control is needed (e.g. more efficient manufacture & assembly methods in castle construction) Also, one important thing to note is that a lot of the money in this hkd10.9 bil plan went into the relocation and expansion of boh facilities that can support further expansions.

And will this be the built-out circulation of phase1?😉

I dont think they will add more frozen or marvel or other ip already represented in the park. They’ve been talking about how the HK people want more variety and see that as more value. So another frozen ride wouldnt necessarily “add in value” for HKDL like it would in other parks. Thats why they built mini lands like Grizzly Gulch, Mystic Point and TSL instead of one with 2 e-tickets.

So I expect them to make minilands everywhere they can. Even between Frozen and TSL. Only time will tell!

Maybe site b could be a toontown area with runaway railway and one or two flat rides themed to the fab five

would love to see an adventureland darkride maybe a suspended ride themed to tarzan or something based on Jungle Book or Moana

I believe after this round of expansion, WDC will want to develop Phase 2 because the land permit will run out pretty soon. There are also a lot of complaints in the society that the land has sat idle for far too long. Also if Ocean Park meets its end, HKDL will need more capacity for both foreign and local visitors.

After Phase 2 open then WDC will return to build out phase 1, so that fans will not ALL head towards phase 2 and leave phase 1 empty.

If phase 2 does get developed will it be a theme park or something that costs less? I dont think neither of the two parties of HKDL would want to spend a lot

I agree, saturating the park with the same franchises does not seem like a good move. HKDL deserves unique attractions and lands based on a singular IP might not age well. The lands not aging well is what I'm worried about. If one day frozens loses its popularity the entire land might suffer the same

It could be that HK govt will want to invest because they want to boost tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic, especially if Ocean park is no more. But WDC may not be so keen given the current economy and its own financial situation. Although they might agree to give up some shareholding in the resort in order for the second gate to happen. After all WDC did gain in shareholding after the two previous rounds of expansions.

If it goes ahead it has to be a theme park. I think not fully built out but maybe a bit smaller in size to the current park. So they can always rely on future expansions to keep people coming back in years to come.

It will be like Tokyo where they expand both parks alternatively so people keep going back to both parks.

would be interesting to see what the future of HKDL will be especially with everything that is going on. Until when is the land for phase 2 reserved for HKDL?

Building a smaller and cheaper park might lead to another Walt Disney Studios Paris. that park initially was a disaster and was basically built to be able to keep the land of the resort.

2020
But Disney can automatically extend the deadline to 2025
If HKDL performs well, it can further be extended to 2030

With China passing the National Security Law today and the United States declaring that HK’s special status is gone, HK’s economy will experience a depression for sure. I doubt if the WDC will still want to invest in HKDL in the future...
