I LOVED the books and I cannot wait until the movie comes out. However, from what I have seen, I don't think the movie will be a big hit. I think diehards will flock to see it and the rest will just not get it. As for the ride? I like the restaurant idea better. I think we are as likely to see a Hitchhikers ride as we are to see a Harry or LOTR ride.

Also....is that TIM (from The Office) I saw in the theater preview?

I never got into the Office - The Ricky Gervais character was just too scarily close to an -hole I used to work with and the negative feelings I had to the real life man got in the way of the comedy.

However, the chap playing Arthur Dent also played Tim in the Office (www.imdb.com is great when you have those "oooh ....what do I know that actor from? moments )

Just wondering where you heard it won't be good? I think this movie is going to be a very good adaptation of the books, mostly because Douglas Adams wrote the script before he passed away. All of the early reviews I have read say it is a very good movie.

i have just heard that they took all of the humor that is in the book out and replaced it with way too many effects and a lot of physical humor. The book is on my list to be read, so I cant back that up with any examples from the book yet.

I don't know--I read the short version (didn't want the spoilers) and then the list of what was left out. Really, most of what was taken out was rather expendible. Quite a lot of it I was actually expecting not to be there by virtue of the book taking longer to read than the movie to be shown. I'm still holding out hope for this one.
