Hilton Head Questions

When staying at Hilton Head, what is the best view to request? We are going in mid-March and will be staying in a two-bedroom villa. We will be traveling with a senior with limited mobility. Do the buildings have elevators? Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks!

There are 102 vacation villas on 15 acres of marshland. All units are raised on concrete stilts to avoid high tide flooding. Handicapped-accessible villas are all located in the check-in lodge called Live Oak Lodge (the only one with an elevator). A first floor room means; up one flight of steps; second floor up two; third up three. With only 4 units per building, it was very quiet. Most parking is not very close to the rooms, but carts are available in the parking area to get your luggage to the room.

The resort is made up of 20 buildings, all located on Longview Island. Because the resort is built on Carolina low-country, none of the units are on the ground floor. Guests staying on the first floor are actually up a half flight of stairs, and the second floor is up one and a half flights of stairs. The main building and the one next door are connected to each other, and house the resort's only elevator.

As Bagheera stated, the main lodge (Live Oak Lodge) has an elevator. If you book a room there you will have pretty good views of the inland waterways. We had a 2 bedroom villa on the opposite side of the island from the lodge which had a tree obstructed view of the waterways. Since it is an island, most views and balconies face out toward the marshes.
