Well, the premiere of High School Musical 2 was held at Disneyland, but no there has been no word on when or where the third film's premiere will be. But, the new show at DHS is scheduled to open on October 24th, the same day the film is released into theatres.

Hope this helps!

Lucky! That would be so much fun to see it in the WDW.

I love that Disney is putting out a big screen musical. Seeing the big dance numbers in the theater is a totally different experience from on television- you know they have to be wayyy more over the top compared to HSM 1&2 just by looking at the trailer. I feel like it will be on the same scale as Hairspray and Moulin Rouge!

It does look like this HSM will be more advanced than the first two. I hope the movie does very well at the theater. Looks like a fun movie.

It does look a lot bigger than the first two, but I doubt that it'll be on that playing field. HSM has a huge following going for it, though.

As for some sort of special event, perhaps the stars will be at the parks on the release day?

I am also interested to see some of the younger cast members perform. I think they are positioning a sort of "next generation" of HSM with the non-seniors like Matt Prokop and Jemma McKenzie-Brown. I wonder what they are going to be singing or if they will have any solos?!?

The only "I Want It All" I ever want to hear is sung by this man.

love that avatar!! and I'll admit that I already pre-ordered my tickets. I will be right there with a bunch of co-workers! I think Efron is going to blow people away- I mean there are 10 new songs. what's your favorite song so far??

I don't want to spoil anything, but both sing....they are definitely being groomed, too. They were introduced well and didn't interfere with the main characters, though.

I'm not a diehard HSM fan (actually, I can't stand the show at DHS :o), but I do like the movies and especially the music, and to celebrate my birthday (which was Tuesday) I went with some friends to see the movie early (4:30...hoping to get there early and avoid the huge crowds...it was still 3/4 full, and it was the least popular theater in my area. When we left, there was a huge crowd waiting for the next show).

I really enjoyed it. At first I had concerns that the movie would have been better on TV, but it quickly picked up, and ended up being a great time at the movies.

Sorry this is so vague, but I didn't want to spoil anything. Really fun movie :).

I'll be seeing the movie tomorrow and glad to hear the movie is fun and it ended up being a great time at the movies. I like the first two movies and its music. I picked up the HSM3 soundtrack this week and it sounds good! It will be nice to hear the music during the film.

Also, hope you had a nice birthday!

Saw it last night and thought it was quite good. If you can get past the fact that it is essentially the exact same plotline of HSM1, then you should love it. I actually don't think they will even attempt a HSM next class. I thought they did a pretty soft job of introducing the 3 new characters. It will be interesting to see but I bet HSM3 ends up in the Top 5 grossing movies of 2008. I'm guessing it ends up in the 250M domestic range.

We saw it yesterday and were quite disappointed. Great production values and well staged and sung, but a little, uh, light in the plot. This comes from a family of fans of the first two films. I went home and plugged in the first film again to see if I was being harsh. Still felt the same and the first was much better. Even on a shoestring budget.

Was it enjoyable? Sure. Think of it as a showcase of singing and dancing, like a concert, and you will be OK. But as a stand alone movie that has any right to exist? Ummmmmmm Nope. I want to re-name it HSM3...A tribute to High School Musicals 1&2 except for any plot or emotional context.

But hey, it's just one family's opinion.

I guess to be fair, my daughter said that it was what she expected and that she wasn't disappointed. I don't want to miss-represent her words.

It sure would have been nice to see the franchise off with a KILLER 3rd edition. But hey, that's showbiz. I still have affection for the principle actors, and wish them well in their future careers.

I did see lots of pre-teens smiling and laughing in the audience. When I left to go to the bathroom there was a herd of them running back to the theater who just about mowed me over. Now THAT made me smile.

Oh really?? For me the emotions were all there- I mean prom and graduation are such turning points. I have followed the series and I thought the third really came through.

The choreography and especially Zac Efron's dancing skills just popped off the screen- Scream and Now or Never where perfect! And I don't want to give away the ending but the finale totally delivered. I think fans in generally were really happy with the culmination and honestly I have been humming ALL the songs since last Friday LOL - the HSM soundtrack is on repeat for me!

I guess all in all I agree with PeoplemoverTTA- it was great time at the movies!

I'm kinda surprised by the box office numbers for HSM3. I thought it would do 100M comfortably and now I'm not convinced it will get there domestically. If it can stay relevant until Thanksgiving maybe they get a late bump there.
