Hidden Pieces of Old Rides or WDW History in parks

We are all familiar with Imagineering's "Ride Salutes" like the Nautilus carved into Pooh's Tree House but how about Old Props used in other attractions, hotels or parks at WDW?

I found a diver from the 20K ride, now painted white, in Sid Cahuenga's truck! DHS has lots of these things, what wayward props do you know about?

Disney's official Fort Wilderness Resort's web page posts this Fun Fact: "The tree trunk trashcans throughout Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort are recycled props from the retired Indian Village attraction that was open in Frontierland at Disneyland Theme Park in California from 1955 to 1971."

Oooo I love this thread! This is my thing! LOL!

I hope that 20k diver is there on our next trip... he will be posing for a photo with me. LOL!

Here's a few I know of:
  • The dock from the original Plaza Swan Boats still exists and is used as a shady seating area today
  • Some X-S Tech references were found at Disney Quest and in the short-lived Stitch show in Tomorrowland for awhile. Some of the props were also reused in SGE
  • Pooh's ride includes two references to Mr. Toad. One in the form of a picture of Toad handing the deed over to Pooh and another in a picture of Mole with Pooh
  • Another Toad reference can be found over in the Pet Cemetary of the Haunted Mansion
  • Two of the original walls from the show building of 20k were actually reused for the new Mermaid attraction
  • One of the old Keel Boats is docked in the Rivers of America and can be seen from the Riverboat
  • I don't suppose we can count the tents formerly from Birthdayland, Starland and Toontown Fair can we? :)
  • The theater from Food Rocks is actually still there and behind a wall
  • The same is true of Skippy and the "brain" theater from Cranium Command
  • The "new" Clamobiles in the Seas are actually an old attraction (Seacabs) brought back to life
  • The animatronic "Tom Morrow" from the first Innoventions version was reused in the aforementioned short-lived Stitch attraction
  • Horizons lives on in the form of a flower bed in front of Mission Space (shaped like the Horizons pavilion/logo) and the use of the logo in the Mission Space gift shop as well as references in Space Mountain, Star Tours and DL's Innoventions
  • Pieces of the Viking Ship over in Norway (when it was removed) can still be found over by the flower bed that replaced it
  • The space that used to house cubes and animation desks at the studios is now reused as... well... open empty space with occasional meet and greets
  • Not sure if this counts but the ride vehicles at Dinosaur as well as the queue area still have references to Countdown to Extinction
  • The two docks from the old DAK riverboats still exist - one reused as a character spot and another just as a shady seating area (like the Swan Boats)
  • Two train cars from the Fort Wilderness train were reused - one at Typhoon Lagoon and another at Pleasure Island as a ticket booth

Here's a few I know of:
  • The dock from the original Plaza Swan Boats still exists and is used as a shady seating area today Wouldn't the covered Swan Boat Landing make a great Starbuck's and place to hang out.
  • Some X-S Tech references were found at Disney Quest and in the short-lived Stitch show in Tomorrowland for awhile. Some of the props were also reused in SGE
  • Pooh's ride includes two references to Mr. Toad. One in the form of a picture of Toad handing the deed over to Pooh and another in a picture of Mole with Pooh. Also a Nautilus carved into Pooh's Tree.
  • Another Toad reference can be found over in the Pet Cemetary of the Haunted Mansion It's the statue from the Ride Sign repainted
  • Two of the original walls from the show building of 20k were actually reused for the new Mermaid attraction The Back and East side walls were kept because 1. they are retaining walls ($) and 2. they avoid certain fees levied on new construction.
  • One of the old Keel Boats is docked in the Rivers of America and can be seen from the Riverboat
  • I don't suppose we can count the tents formerly from Birthdayland, Starland and Toontown Fair can we? :)
  • The theater from Food Rocks is actually still there and behind a wall Pretty much just the stage since the queue uses the seating area.
  • The same is true of Skippy and the "brain" theater from Cranium Command Love this ride, I always thought it should be moved to InnoVentions and updated.
  • The "new" Clamobiles in the Seas are actually an old attraction (Seacabs) brought back to life Same for Buzz Light Year/Dreamflight/If You Had Wings

  • Two train cars from the Fort Wilderness train were reused - one at Typhoon Lagoon and another at Pleasure Island as a ticket booth FYI 4 engines and 12 cars now belong to Carolwood Pacific
Very nice list, but I'd like to focus on items that are re-purposed as decoration and may not necessarily be an Imagineering Salute to an attraction on the same site. In other words hard to find but within view of a Park Guest. Love pictures, everyone, they really make a thread "pop" and keep up the interest

The Horizons icon is also featured in the center of the rotating space station in the queue.

I understand... and just FYI I left the ones previously covered off my list on purpose. :)

Oh and I see your addition to my list but just FYI... the thing about the Toad statue in the Pet Cemetary being the same one from the sign is actually incorrect. I remember reading that rumor a few times but if you look at the pictures of each you'll see small differences (his hands, the tilt of his head, the opening of his mouth and the placement of his feet):

Since you asked... here's some pictures of the actual reused items I referenced in my list:

Reused Keel Boat
Keel%20Boat.jpg

One of the FWRR Train Car reuses (after this it was turned into a ticket booth and repainted)

I won't bother putting up pictures of the docks from the Swan Boats and Riverboats over at DAK. :)

The keel boat from RoA is not from the ride. The Mike Fink Keel Boats where much bigger and had seating inside the boat and on top.

Sorry I should've specified... It is my understanding that the "base" of the boat is from an actual keel boat (repurposed). You're right, the ones used for the attraction had an additional seating area on top (which lead to their demise unfortnuately).

Yeah, I'm afraid that this is a purpose built prop. Compare to the picture below shows how much wider, straight sides and longer the actual boats were. It's too bad they were discontinued, new boats could have had a wider base so as not to be top heavy and actually carry more people!

Boy are your right! I actually tracked down some ride videos of Toad at Disneyland and WDW and can't find this figure anywhere. Generally a WDI figure sculpture is really expensive which is why things get re-used, so that makes this figure a real mystery. Good work

At the new Goofy's roller coaster, if you look at the back of the entrance sign, the wood used shows parts of the old "wise acres" sign used previously. I just can't remember where it was from though. Any help?
