Hidden notes...

I have kind of an unusual idea. It is late, so I don't know how well I'll be able to articulate this, but here goes...

I'll be visiting WDW in just a few weeks (woo hoo!) and I was thinking about hiding a bunch of little notes at various places around the resort, and then seeing if any members of these boards are able to find them. Then people could post on this thread and say things like, "Hey Merlin, I found your note that you hid at Pizza Planet. The one that says 'WDWMagic Rocks!'"

I've done this with friends a couple times whenever I knew I was going to be there a week or so before them. It is always fun.

What do all of you think??

It sounds like fun and I've heard of other people doing this, but I have one question...how do you pull this off? Don't the CMs find these notes when cleaning, etc?

Similar to Geocaching

This is similar to a new activity called geocaching. People take GPS receivers, write down the coordinates, and hide a cache. There is a site (www.geocaching.com) where people log their caches and people go out and look for them. I believe there are already some hidden on Disney property.

You can try, but on day, Tifani and I hid a whole bunch of stuff we didnt wanna carry in the bushes in the RNRC plaza area, and at the end of the day, it was all gone, so if they can find it in the middle of a bush, they can find it anywhere

I've done this a couple of times and in both cases, some of the notes were gone. But most of them were still there. I hid them in places that I assumed (correctly apparently) don't get cleaned too often, such as underneath a video game in the Tomorrowland arcade.

I've actually heard that Disney checks the bushes quite frequently because people smuggle in alcohol and that's where they hide it about 90% of the time. Apparently, for a few days leading up to grad nite every year, they find a ton of alcohol hidden in the bushes.

Cool idea...and I had thought about this at one time...but then though...leaving pieces of paper with notes on them is as bad as leaving a churro wrapper on the ground...granted, it's not hidden, but it's still a sense of "littering"

(and honestly...do we want WDW to be called Six Flags World? :D )

About the stuff in the bushes, it could be that a CM actually witnesses someone "hiding" something, waits until that someone leaves the area, and then the CM retrieves the hidden treasure.

In our case..it wasnt...

The alcohol thing is very true. I didnt think of that, but, since were in the Cen. Fl area, we have our graduation ceremony at WWOS and Grad night at the parks. People are forever talking how they hide stuff in the bushes...I guess it slipped my mind. I know some places that, no one would ever look:D

As much as I love a clean park as much as the next guy, this sounds like a blast. Count me in when you pass out the map! :) I may even leave a scribble of my own. ; )
