Thursdays and Sundays are guaranteed non-peak event dates. I'm not sure which Wednesdays will be included yet. Opening weekend is "non-peak" in terms of Frequent Fear Passes being valid, but I don't know if that carries over to your ticket.

Non-peak days are Wednesday/Thursday/Sunday. Maybe a weekend day the first weekend, but I wouldn't count on that.

In the immortal words of Elvis Presley (and Belle), "Thank you. Thank you very much." :D

Construction has supposedly started in the tents. With in the next few days we should see permits made public and construction starting in full swing after gradventure.

Screamscape is reporting this will be another IP driven year:

Juicy new HHN 23 information is starting to leak out this week so hold on to your hats. I’m told that the plan right now is to have 8 haunts in 2013 and I’m hearing that we will see the return of regular scare zones once again rather than last year’s roaming hordes. Bill & Ted will return for another adventure of course, but I’m also hearing that the park may have resigned a deal to bring back the Rocky Horror show once again.
As for the haunts… we will see another year of heavy IP use once again with some interesting new choices. According to the whispering voice on the phone, we may see as many as five haunts based on existing horror franchises: Cabin in the Woods, Evil Dead, American Werewolf in London, Resident Evil and The Walking Dead.
While The Walking Dead was used last year, I’d imagine we would see a new haunt this year themed after the events of Season 3 with clues and images from the upcoming Season 4. Add in three original concepts to the mix and we’re up to eight possible haunts this year if all goes well.

I've heard the sane thing that screamscape is sating awhile ago. Also hear American Horror Story. Guess that ones pulled. But it will definitely be another IP heavy year.

I'm hoping they'll go with The Walking Dead Video Game from Telltale since it got just about every video game of the year award and it'd be different than the show.

Unless they make one the "comedy" house, aren't Cabin in the Woods and (2013) Evil Dead ridiculously similar? Without going into spoilers, I guess you could base Cabin on the end of the movie--again, possibly playing up the dark humor--but the first 2/3 of that movie is an homage to the original Evil Dead.

Expected scarezones to return, but still glad they're coming back.

Unlikely. Last year's was based off of the show, which is much more in the public eye than the game. If they do it again this year, it will also be based off of the show.

I almost picked up cabin in the woods last night to see it. But it doesn't sound like it would make a decent house. Plus the movie is 2 years old now. I don't really see them using it. I won't lie I wouldn't mind a return of alice cooper. I may be one of 2 lol. @Slipknot do you agree?

I didn't hate Alice Cooper, thought the idea certainly had potential. Would have liked more of his music, honestly. Also, it felt like the scare-actors' hearts weren't in it as much after one psycho guest tased an actor going through the house.

Really, tho, other than Walking Dead, I don't think there's much in 2012 Universal will want to revisit. Worst reviewed year in a long time.

No one was ever tazed in alice cooper. Some one was maced but never tazed. And it was there certain people reacted differently to that. Most poured their heart into their role eveynight. The music would have been better had you been able to hear it.

I knew it was something like that--ridiculously stupid guest either way, still makes me angry. With you on the music, when that's the main selling point of the house, it should have been front and center.

The rumors Screamscape are reporting are strikingly accurate. Don't expect very much in the way of originals.

Absolutely loving what I'm hearing...all things that I enjoyed and so glad were probably getting more walking dead. They did a fantastic job with that one last year.

Really? The sets were great, and I got surprised by at least four or five zombies...can't say the same for the other houses.

The sets were nice in all the houses to me. But in walking dead they just seemed to out in the open to me. I could say the same about Alice Cooper though.

Oh and construction has started. We have an electric chair and metal by tent 1 ( Alice Cooper was there last year).

Another problem is that the entire "house" was subject to horrible light leak from the outside. So, if you went through the house during the first hour or two of the event, before complete sunset, it was the equivalent of going through any of the other houses with the lights on.

Uni should have asked Disney if they could borrow a few yards of black fabric from Everest to help secure the perimeter of the house (Disaster queue).

So the themes of this year's houses have leaked from various sources, just sharing here for the sake of discussion:
  • American Werewolf in London
  • Evil Dead
  • Cabin in the Woods
  • The Walking Dead (no shocker there)
  • Resident Evil
  • La Llorona ("The Weeping Woman"--from Mexican folklore, was previously used in Hollywood)
  • Sequel to Havoc: Dogs of War
  • An original prison-themed house
