Why is the weather channel showing the tropical storm OVER Orlando? I am freaking out here--the MCO site shows their flight as having departed ON TIME--what idiot takes off during a tropical storm? I can't take this! My nerves are shot, Marcia....please tell me this is a mistake...

The EYE is over Orlando...the rain and wind are here! (actually, the worse is about an hour south of us in daytona Beach and Palm Coast) The rain should continue through the night. It's not that there is so much rain falling, it's just that it's been pouring off and on since Monday. I live on high ground (at least by Florida standards) so flooding should not be a problem for me. I'm more concerned about all the big oak trees in the neighborhood...they're supersaturated.

Oh, for crying out loud! Then they have to fly *through* it get north, right? Yikes....I can't believe this....

No, the band isn't that wide...they can fly OVER it..unless they're in a tiny prop plane. The JAX radar shows Orlando and south with a clear window.(relatively)

OK--they just called. Took an extra hour to get home--caught in the storm (duh!) and had to fly way out of the way to get here....They'll be here in about an hour. I'm off to forage something for them to eat, since an envelope of soup mix and fresh brownies doesn't appeal to them...

I'm relieved to hear your story has a happy ending!

The weather is still miserable here, but not terrible, if you get my meaning. I'm hoping that if there was any damage at our weekend house, a neighbor would contact us. The local weather people even predict that the sun might come out later...I think I remember what that is.
