Just have to vent and I know my friends on wdwmagic will listen
Still have no power and Now into day seven!! Very frustrating and depressing!! Called CL&P last night and said they didn't have our street down!! Give me a break! And then the head of the company had the nerve to say they're doing a good job. Starting to lose it! Thanks for listening

No Electric

Retired,
I honestly feel your pain! However, allow me to point out another view.
I just retired from FPL...so....just another view.Thankfully you didn't get nailed by a Hurricane, which could have totaled your house! The guys trying to get you electric are working their butts off...i'VE been there...start at 430am,TILL 11pm....go to an area to get cattered food...wolf it down...then back to work....get to sleep at 12pm...they tell you to get 8hrs.sleep but THAT seldom happens !! Imagine doing this for16 or more days straight! You get soooo tired you just want to SLEEP,,,bone tired....but you are busting your,,,you know what to help the people like you! Oh yeah...couple of more things,,,your stomach is torn up from cattered food(antiacids are my friend) & most likely you get sick..but ...you can't allow anytime for that...you have a job to do!! Oh yeah, forgot,we rushed to help & I read in the paper about how or crews were eating surf & turf...& staying in an expensive hotel....hmmmm...funny....I saw guys sleeping in their cars & trucks cuz we didn't have any arrangements made....Hurricanes like snowstorms don't allow you to set things up! Just a view from an old guy that's BTDT! Be very grateful & thankful it wasn't ANDREWS!

I feel you there, Retired. We just got power back this morning and as a nineteen year old girl... hot water was amazing <3

However I also have to say that I agree with Jim because my Dad works for the electric company around here and I hear him come in early in the morning and leave just a few hours later. I've barely seen him since it started snowing. This really isn't the fault of the electric company, but more of mother nature for giving us a freak snow storm when the trees were still too heavy with their leaves and the the companies who work the snow plows weren't ready or equipped. Our street got plowed by some red truck, obviously a hired outsider and not the loud and obnoxious plow/salter we're used to seeing during the holidays. :/

I hope you get power back soon!
Sending some of my unlucky luck up your way! :)

Don't get me wrong I do appreciate everything the line crews are doing and all of their hard work! Just frustrated with the management and their ineptitude. Ct has one of the highest rates for electricity in the country. They dont have enough line crews to do regular maintenance never mind deal with two storms in the past 2 months. We didn't get help from other companies because CL&P management didn't pay their bills from the last storms! The head of the company said the storm was worse than forecasted NOT TRUE the line creed are working their buts off its the structure and management that's got me u know what.

Hey Retired!!

I totally hear what you are saying! Being without power after the storm was awful! I understand where those that have worked for power companies come from, but it was still a bad situation. I am sure the power guys were working their butts off but going without power for 5 or more days entitles someone to vent without getting a "be lucky, etc...." thrown in their face.

Retired I am with you, this storm and the week without power sucked! Vent all you want.
