Help with Magical Express!!

Just a question, hopefully someone can help! My husband and I are leaving this Sat. for our trip to Walt Disney World, YEA! Anyway, we changed the date for our trip about two weeks ago, we added two extra nights. Previously we received the stickers to put on our luggage for the Magical Express bus for our first date which was to be May 12. Now we are leaving May 10th and we did not get our new Magical Express stickers in the mail. What should we do? Will we be able to use the Magical Express. I do have my itinerary from the hotel? Has anyone else been in this situation??:(

I'm not sure if the luggage tags that you have now will work. You might try putting them on, but it's possible that it will cause confusion. You're not required to use the luggage tags, though. You can collect your own luggage at the airport, and have it stowed underneath the bus you're riding on. You will have to take it to the room yourself, but on the plus side, it will be available to you immediately. I always do that anyway, as the first time I used the ME, I was supposed to work that afternoon (I'm a seasonal CM) and realized that I had left stuff that I needed in my suitcase. I had to call down and arrange for them to bring my suitcase on a special trip, but they were really nice about it. I'd recommend calling Disney and explaining your situation. I'm sure the CM on the phones will know if your current tags will work or not.

I would call Disney and ask them what to do. You might have to get your own luggage - bummer! Of course, on your way back they'll give you new tags before you check out.

Your luggage tags will "work" fine. The bar code on them is tied to your reservation number. The bar code will be scanned at the airport. As long as you updated your arrival date with Magical Express (or the CM at DRC did), then you are fine. If you call DRC, the CM should be able to tell you by looking in the system if it was updated or not. When we added a night to our reservation recently (checking in one day earlier), it took a couple of calls before it was actually changed in the ME section.

No, she won't have to pick up her luggage. The tags she has will be fine. Also, they don't give you new tags when you check out; you are responsible for taking your own luggage on the ME bus back to the airport, or sending it with Resort Check-In. (If you are flying a participating airline). All you will get at your resort the day before you leave is a notice saying what time you need to be at the bus stop, which is typically 3 hours before your flight.

Where the heck is CleveRocks when you need him? :lookaroun :lol:

I don't believe that any of this was shared since I just have time to skim the posts but I had family members not recieve their tags and called Disney and they said that when you check into DME you just hand them the baggage claim ticket that you get when you check your bags leaving your home city.

Hi there Bug, To expand on that answer, yes you will give copies ( never leave the originals) of your bag tags given by your airline along with a description of the bags (picture is better!!) if you want Disney to get them for you, if they dont have those yellow tags on it. Belle

Sorry, I had to step away from WDWMagic to go earn some money, but you did an awesome job in my absence.:)

The very very most important thing to do ASAFP is call DME at 866-599-0951 to make sure you have a DME reservation for 5/10. There will be no problem with using your existing tags as long as your reservation # hasn't changed, but you need that reservation!!!
