Help with a friend.

I have a friend coming to visit Walt Disney World in a week and they have issues with changing altitude and air pressure meaning they are driving and can't go on a flight, due to surgery they just had that affects that. Now they know they shouldn't go on Mission Space, but are there other rides they should avoid? I am assuming tower is a no go and most of the heavier roller coasters, if anyone on here has had the same problem and would like to share it would be more than appreciated. Also someone told me that on Startours they offer a version of the ride with no movement? Is this true? I was told you have to ask.

They really should talk to their doctor about these types of restrictions. Based only on what you've said (can't handle changes in altitude or air pressure), that wouldn't necessarily rule out any WDW attraction, since none of them travel enough vertical distance to cause any change in barometric pressure.

But things like Mission Space and Tower of Terror could cause minor pressure changes just due to their speeds and the wind created.

If you can be more specific, perhaps you'll get more responses. But ultimately, his doctor should make the final call, and provide better parameters.

Also, I've never heard of a non-moving version of Star Tours, but perhaps it exists. Still, that ride wouldn't cause any air pressure changes.

I wish I could be, but they haven't divulged much other than the information I was given, its really a friend of my mother's who I am showing around! So i don't know her all that well and all I was given was this info! But thank you very much for responding!

I would honestly just say Mission Space and ToT like Tom said. I can't imagine any other rides that would effect him the same way changing altitudes and air pressure would but he should ask his doctor first I'm sure a quick phone call would clear things up he might be able to go on everything or only slow moving dark ride type attractions.

Rides to avoid:
Space Mountain
Tea Cups
Astro Orbiter
Dumbo
-
Mission Space
Soarin
-
Tower of Terror
Rock n Rollercoaster
Star Tours
-
Everest
Dinosaur

These rides all cause pretty bad motion sickness so I can only assume their symptoms are similar..? So hope this helps in some way.

There is just no way for us to know. Your friend should call the surgeon and ask him.

Doctors will always tell you what you can't do. They have no problem with that. I think they make more money when they say, "No swimming", because it's like their favorite thing to say. ;)
