Just have him snort this an hour before deciding on where to vacation and his disease symptoms should be reduced in time for him to make the right choice.

It isn't bad to look into other vacations, but one should never dismiss Disney entirely!
I agree. There's bound to be things you don't love at the parks, but why abandon all the magic entirely? I couldn't sleep last night just thinking about him and his family vacationing in other places.

its a matter of perspective, whats really scaring him off? advancement of the parks or the abandonment of what used to be? i just think that the assumption that these two subjects may take away what he loves about the parks is a hollow thought at best. disney is still there, the very disney we all grew up with and love, and these upgrades certainly wont change that.
I think it's just the whole idea that he can't just go on a vacation there with his family without a lot of senseless "planning" and reserving. I can totally understand that. And to be honest, for what it would cost him to do a week at WDW, he could do 2 or 3 quality vacations elsewhere. It's kind of hard to argue with that.

Tell your friend this (and some people around here who resist change 
) Disney was at the forefront of technology, a window on the future, a leader. As things change, as they add things and features, they are taking the children of this iPhone/Android/computer in your pocket generation and bringing Disney forward again. In my opinion, Disney is only "catching up". If they don't do that, these parks die with us. Disney needs to bring the "wow" to this jaded generation of kids so they will bring their families here as well. I don't think there is any danger in this, but it's an important point I'd like to make. Humor me, lol.

People need to be excited about future endeavors and not disgruntled about change. It is sad when someone loses their sense of magic! An intervention needs to be staged, stat!
And...I have never thought that planning for a WDW vacation was senseless.

i can respect that, me being the disney freak that i am though the money is still not enough for me not to go. i cant think of something id rather spend 4k on for my family. to each his own, he has asked the million dollar question and rightfully so.

As much as I hate this next gen stuff and will admit it is kinda putting me off, but the amount of others put off by it is good for me as then the park visitors will be down meaning no need to mess about with pre booking FPs as lines will be shorter lol I'd be all for Magic+ if they just took FastPass out of it and leave it how it is such as converting the FastPass machines to RFID and you just tap the band against it and a ticket comes out.

As so many others here have said in the past: You either get the magic, or you don't. Sadly there are many who just don't "get it", but no sweat here, as it keeps the lines shorter for me.

Can I ask you if he ever went to WDW before they came out with fastpasses? Did he make a big deal out of that because it was "unknown? Some people just need something to complain about. Also about the price, unless you have a ton of kids the price for Disney is not that much different then other vacations. I spent a week in Chicago with my family and it cost just as much by the time we rented a car, paid for all of the attractions, not to mention the parking, food, etc, we came out about the same as a Disney trip.

Well, it really is her fault in the first place, so...
