Help! Two Disney Agents, Two different answers

Hi All, I've called Disney twice and gotten two different answers from representatives. Hopefully someone on here will give me the correct answer.
Our trip for October is paid in full. After some thought, my family is considering canceling our park hoppers and putting that money toward the quick service dining plan. We always get the park hoppers but don't hop that much.
I called Disney approximately 7-10 days ago and the agent told me I had 12 days to make this change without a fee. After that the fee would be $65. Also, I have within 72 hrs. of arrival to add the dining plan which I already knew about. We still haven't made a final decision about the change so today I called to see how many more days I had to make the decision.
The agent today told me there is not a deadline or any fees charged for making the change as long as I am taking away the park hopper but adding something such as the dining plan to our package. She also told me about the 72 hr. notice prior to check in for the dining plan.
Which agent is correct? I don't want to wait too long and have to pay the extra $50 or $75?
Thanks, Everyone!

I think that, technically, there is a change fee if you make a change less than 45 days before your trip. However, I think they usually waive the fee as long as you are also making a change that causes you to end up owing them money. So, if you just dropped the hopper, they would probably charge you, but if you drop it and add the dining plan at the same time, you will still owe them money and they will waive the change fee.

I have to agree with @hakunamatata I would definately ask to speak to a supervisor, and take names, times and dates. In your situation, you aren't sure who is correct, so cover your bases. Jot down the day and time too, just to cover yourself. You surely wouldn't want to pay for someone else's mistake

If you have a package, you need to pay in full prior to 45 days out. Any changes made after that date are subject to a change fee. However, WDW will waive the fee if your new package price costs more than the old. So switchng from POR to GF? No fee. Switching from QS DP to DxDP? No fee. Dropping the dining plan, but moving from AoA to POFQ? Maybe no fee, depends on the final price. Changing from WL to CBR? Change fee. Dropping dining? Change fee. Etc.

This post seems similar to the question I have...We arrive in Disney in less then 30 days, we purchased the Magic Your Way Package from Disney and chose to get 8 day Park Hopper/Water Park tickets. If we want to drop the water park option from our tickets would Disney charge us for this? It was already mentioned that they would for a hotel or dinning change but nothing was mentioned about park tickets?

On my most recent trip we had to make some changes and what I was told by Disney was, if you make a change to your reservation resulting in a price drop, then you will have to pay the fee. However, if you make a change resulting in a price increase then the fee is waived. Disney actually waived the change fee for us when we decided to arrive a day later. We waited on hold for over an hour and they knew it so they told us the fee was on them for being so patient :)

If the tickets are part of a Package reservation, then they fall into the same category of "changes result in a fee unless you're increasing the overall price" when you're less than 45 days out.

And since the Water Park option would only remove about $25 per person from the price of the package (because you also have the Park Hopper option), it might be cheaper to just leave the WP option on the tickets if there's only two of you.
