Help settle a family dispute over the Tower of Terror!

This is so amazing! Thanks for all the info @marni1971 and others! Let's keep this thread growing! I love the "vintage tower" topic it has!
What happened to the fog machines in the boiler room and the sparkling sign?
Any other abandoned/defunct effects?
Plenty. Lets not forget about the corridor light strobes, the strobes inside the sign, the "tease" drop sound on Echo(works fine on Foxtrot) that's supposed to play when the AGV enters the drop shaft, and the door drone sound(it still plays, but is either not timed properly or is too quiet to be noticed).

Tease drop sound? Drone door? What do you mean?
Still work if all the parts were maintained. I know the boiler room mist machines were tested several years ago. They ran dry but did power up.
Why were they turned off, along with the boiler room light adjustments?

I don't really know what to call them, but this is a video that has the 1st sound I am talking about:

The "drone" sound effect was used to play when the doors closed at loading and when it closed at the corridor scene, and at the corridor scene, it made it not seem awkwardly quiet before the 5th dimension transition audio played. Here is a video of it:

This is awesome. Why was the dead end wall effect removed? The sounds that @Rodj mentioned?
When Tower3 came, they added lightning effects in the drop shafts, and this included the spot where the "wall" was, but only on a side of it, which meant the spot it was at protruded from the wall a bit to house the strobes and did not have a concrete texture to it, so I guess they didn't want to bother keeping it if it would illuminate that spot. This is what it looks like now:

What's interesting is that the stucco wall is not actually part of the structure, so they had to have placed it there on purpose. I wonder why they went with just a plain stucco wall.

The first sound effecet is a combination of machinery and thunder. I imagine it's intentionally supposed to sound vaguely like both to be confusing.

The second sound effect is just supposed to be the mechanical doors opening and closing. It has been missing for about 10 years now.

Probably because it drops so quickly most won't even notice it's a cheap stucco wall.
What I'm saying is, the stucco wall was actually a prop of sorts. It had a light illuminate it for a half second and then you fall. This was, of course, the older incarnations of Tower of Terror and the stucco wall has since been removed.
