It's that time again... Planning our Spring vacation to the World. Our last trips have been to Caribbean Beach, Art of Animation, and off site... With a few Grand Floridian and Polynesian stays in the distant past.
We'll be traveling as a family of four: My wife and I (late '20s, FWIW), Avery (4), and London (nearly 2 at time of travel).
We're planning to use the same room discount deal (travel by April 12th) we used last year when we booked Caribbean Beach, but we're stuck trying to narrow down where we want to be.
Here's the options, all figured using: April 3-9, 6 day Park Hopper tickets, Disney Dining Plan...
Port Orleans - Riverside, Royal room
$3254
Port Orleans – Riverside, standard room
$3097
Art of Animation, The Little Mermaid standard room
$3050
Pop! Century Resort, standard room
$2781
All Star Music, standard room
$2731
The factors at play:
- Avery LOVES The Little Mermaid, and has seen pics of the AoA TLM rooms and I know she'd love them. My wife and I stayed in TLK suite at AoA for the media event last winter, and we love the resort. I am worried about the smaller size of TLM rooms compared to the moderates since we'll need a Pack and Play for London. The AoA TLM price is within spitting distance of what I would consider to be a far superior resort in POR.
- I'm leaning towards the POR Standard Room, for the mix of size, quality, and value. I haven't stayed here since the Dixie Landings days, but everything I've seen shows that this place is beautiful.
- My wife thinks that a POR Royal Room would be a good consolation prize for Avery, since she is squarely Princess obsessed and would be missing her pick of AoA TLM rooms. The rooms look very pretty to me, but it seems like a more mature take on the Princess motif than would be appreciated by our little princess. At the top of the options pricing-wise, this option would cost more than $500 more than the cheapest All Star Music room, everything else equal.
- I included All Star Music and Pop! Century simply because they're more budget friendly. We're typically go-go-go on vacation, coming back to the room for afternoon naps and to sleep at night. While the 2 little ones would probably like the bright colors and oversized props, the $300 jump up to POR seems well worth it to me.
So, experts of WDWMagic, what say you? Any and all opinions are appreciated!
