Help Please- Haunted Mansion Proposal

Hello,
I'm hoping someone can help. My girlfriend and I LOVE disney. We are both especially in love with the Haunted Mansion. Her dream is to get engaged there, so I am working to come up with a plan.

Anyone have any ideas? We are looking early April. I would like to do something low cost.

My first thought is simple, but maybe ok. I would receive a staged phone call from someone. The call would be notice that my surprise of a tour of the backstage at the mansion could be done now. As we approached the Haunted Mansion I would get down on one knee and propose.

I need you help! Please let me know if you have any ideas!

Would you actually be wanting a backstage tour of the mansion? or access to a backstage area?

While it probably could be arranged via Disney Event Planning or Disney Weddings, it would not be low cost.

Not REALLY going to do a tour. Just need a reason to get over there when I want, otherwise she will follow HER Schedule!

Any help is appreciated. Want it to be creative, yet simple and not overdone.

I was so upset for him interrupting me to propose that I yelled at him before I realized what he was doing

haunted mansion proposal - it happened to me!

Brett - I was lucky enough to also have a boyfriend (at the time) who wanted to make our engagement really special.

This past October 23rd, he popped the question INSIDE the stretching room of the haunted mansion (its my favorite room, i have a tattoo sleeve of the 2 female portraits)

but anyway - all he did was call 1-800-WDISNEY and explained what he wanted to do.

We were also on vacation with my sister and my friend erica. They planned it to make it look like Erica set up a "private tour" of the mansion for us. They even sent her a fake confirmation email so she could show me!

When the "tour" began, we had to meet our disney cast member outside the mansion, and she took us through a tour of all the neat stuff you see waiting in like (the stories behind the marble busts, the engagement ring in the pavement, the new mausoleums they just put in), etc... so it really seemed like a REAL TOUR.

Then she escorted us to the front of the line, and let ONLY the 4 of us inside. When we got to the stretching room, my boyfriend got down on one knee. and i accepted, of course.

After we exited the room, there were all the haunted mansion cast members cheering and clapping, and they let us on the ride alone until it was finished.

When we were done, we were presented with the halloween Mickey ears, and a haunted mansion keychain, AND VIP seating for the Halloween parade (since we missed the first one, because we were busy getting engaged)


Hope that helps!! Trust me, disney is always happy to help people out. We got the "just engaged" pins, and wore those all week, and got a bunch of extra perks because of it.

This is an AWESOME story!! I love hearing when Disney does extra special things to help people get engaged!

I can't suggest anything better than that. But I wanted to say that a friend of mine proposed to his now wife at the California Grille. He had called ahead of time, so they had a photographer waiting to take photographs of when she accepted. It's cool that they have a photo of that. If you plan on proposing anywhere outside of the mansion, maybe you could do that so that you have a picture of you proposing!

i agree you need to call that number i was engaged at disney sept 2010 and he did it on peter pan, one of my fav rides , the cast member actaually stopped the ride while we were in the bedroom (just taking off ) because its my fav part and they stopped it he asked me we kissed and they said on the speaker congrats to us! and we got mickey ears bride and groom and pins it was the best! call them and they will make any thing great for you! honeymoon there too bc its AMAZING
