Help needed! Can't encode AVI files to MPEG

Hi, Guys!
Could anyone help me with this?
I downloaded some videos from Popkid's irc, and they are AVI files. But I want to play them in my DVD, that only plays MPEG files. I downloaded a decoder, TMPGEnc, but it doesn't work for AVI files, it says that the file cannot open or is unsupported...:fork: Does anyone know where I can find a free software that can do this? I went to superdownloads.com, but I don't know what to download... Please, help!!!

What file are you trying to open? I can open the files from #D-C just fine in TMPGenc.

Also - what steps are you talking in TMPGenc.

I am just opening it, clicking on "browse" and trying to open the movies: going_2_dl_2_rusm.avi , philharmagic_hi-liter(medqual)-divx.avi... etc

I think the problem is the Divx format... the bcx ones open

My early ones (rusm) were done with divx 3 and my later ones were made with divx 5. I think Gordian Knot contains Divx 3 codecs or Nandub possibly.

I downloaded Divx, and installed it in my PC. the files at TMPEG started to open!!! Thanks, guys! I love you all!!!!:kiss:
