Help me help a friend

SO here's my dilemma, when using your DVC card to buy APs on site? How do they verify your membership, other than just seeing the card? I'm just trying to stop a friend from making a dumb decision when they go on their trip in a couple days! Esp one that involves them getting into some serious trouble! :brick: Next is there a way for us to report them! I know I'm a friend and I shouldn't but, I am also all about being fair, besides it our benefits he is trying to use!! Thanks ahead of time for any help!

p.s. we have already tried emailing Disney and it's been like three days with no answer. Should I just try member services?

When you purchase an AP with DVC discount, you also must supply a driver's license or some other form of picture ID along with your blue DVC Membership card (not just your room key that says DVC member). If the names don't match then they'd know something is up. How is he able to use your benefits?

Buying APs requires photo ID that matches the name being used. If your friend has "borrowed" your DVC membership card in hope of getting APs with a DVC discount, they will not be successful, unless of course they have forged ID to go with it.

They're not likely to get in "serious trouble" unless they actually do have forged documents. Most likely they'll just be charged the full cost of the APs they want. If the CM is vigilant, your DVC membership card might be confiscated from them and returned to you.

Worded wrong

I guess I worded this wrong. when I say use our benefit I don't mean use my card I mean using their old DVC card from when they were members (they sold off their contract). My wife and I are still members and keep our cards to ourselves. He is convinced they look at the card only, but from what I understand they input your number into the system. Esp buying something like an AP. We've always gone through MS for this...he is wanting to try it at the park. Thats why I was asking if I should just call member services to see, but I didn't want to needlessly have him flagged esp if he doesn't do it:shrug:

I see what you're saying now! That's a good question. I just looked at my AP and I don't see a membership number on there, just that it was purchased with the DVC discount.

Is it really that big of a deal? If they had purchased the AP before they sold their contract, would their AP be null and void? No.

Seems to be that this is nitpicking and not a very friendly gesture either.

I think that they verify your address because everyone within the household can receive the benefits from membership. So if they look for their address and see that they aren't members then they won't be able to get the discounts.

We just renewed ours this spring at Guest Services in DTD. They input the membership numbers in the computer and it told them we were active.

@unkadug: I understand it's not a very friendly gesture, it's more of a settle up a disagreement we had so I looked to the boards here for that, because there really isn't anything anywhere that says it or not, and while it does seem unfriendly I am looking out for his best interest...Don't wanna see him get into trouble over something dumb:hammer:

@Daddio: TY, thats what I was trying to tell him to begin with, Thank you very much for yours and everyone elses help!!:sohappy:
