Help ME Buy A Camera

WDWMagic, help me buy a camera or confirm my logic.

Some people may know or not know that I am a paid professional but I have since started to ramp down all of my projects. No more weddings, no more portraits, no more freelance work... Period, unless a close friend is in a pinch.

I have a Nikon 70-200 VRII I am looking to sell. Now, I'm not to keen on digital these days but I don't want to completely strip it from my life. Realistically I want the best performance in a small body.

If you knew you'd never be using the 70-200 ever again would you sell it and buy a mirror less system to walk around with.

I figure I could get 2 grand for the lens which would cover the cost of an Fuji X Pro 1 and 35mm lens.

Why are you quitting, if you don't mind me asking?
I'd rather make zero dollars doing what I love.
Shooting stuff I had no interest in just got old.

I got to a point where I was making the same money as my full time job, but a vast majority of mu work was on weekends. Every now and then I got a fridy wedding request and just referred the person to a friend. It's the reason I never went 100% full time because 99% of my work fell between Saturday and Sunday and my job provided me with health care benefits

I just lost the passion to shoot others as it replaced my personal work.

Thanks for sharing - I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision and i wish you all the best. I just hope you keep shooting film.

As far as camera's, the Fuji seems like a great choice but I had you pegged for an RX1.

Oh yeah man, no way I am stopping my personal photography.

I've got my whole darkroom set up and I am just all about developing and printing my own work. I'm also making wet plates on my 8x10 camera. Just playing with dangerous chemicals, it's fun though.

I can't decide! What makes the RX even more appealing is that I'll likely never change the 35'm lens on the Fuji. The only issue with the RX, I'm a viewfinder guy. So I'll have to spend good money on a Zeis viewfinder. I just don't like framing on the LCD screen.

Yeah, but it's full frame.

Oh my bad, I got my cameras mixed up.

RX1 and the 100. Eh, I like the RX1 a lot! I'm just looking at the Fuji because I could buy it with the proceeds of the lens. The RX1 is pricy baby!

The RX1 is a bit salty - but you do get a full-frame and great Zeiss lens, then again I don't think you can go wrong with the Fuji.

That's just based on all the stuff I've read and my hobbist knowlege of photography. My opinion is worth what you paid for it. :)

I am in no rush, so I think I am 96% certain I'll be selling my 70-200 VRII and will sit on the money.

I want to see if an XPRO2 is released, whether it be full frame or not. I want to avoid the X100s... just because I don't want to limit myself. Every now and then I come across a Voigtlander lens for a good price and if that was the case I'd spring for an M mount adapter.

I am going to a mirrorless system though... never thought I'd make the jump but I am at the point where I just want something to carry around and not have to rely on an iphone.

Its just a fixed lens but everyone is insanely hot on the Fuji X100s.
