With the new Disney price increase and seeing we bought APs for the Universal portion of this summer's trip my dh said maybe we won't go to Disney at all in 2017. Please tell me going to the darkside will be a good thing.
Thank you for such a sweet reply. My boys are much older and next year's trip is going to be an adult only trip. We're now at the point character meals are for me as my babies have out grown them.We just did a trip in Jan and didn't do Disney Parks at all. We still had a great time! We got a bit of a Disney fix by going to Disney Springs and you could always do a character meal at an hotel. My kids didn't seem to miss Disney at all. They were having a great time and Uni. There were so many new things for them to explore and lots of characters they love or are familiar with. Harry Potter, Seuss, Minions and Jurassic Park were big hits with my kids. My son loved meeting superheros. They don't know the Simpsons except that they exist as a thing in the world but still got a kick out of the area. MIB they also enjoyed despite not having a clue who they were. A shooter is a shooter to them.
But will one of the parks have a ban on adult beverages? Every once in a while my boys will do something and.........No you will hate it. Theres no pixie dust, magic or anything like that. Its also a bit of system shock, they have attractions that are less than 10 years old in both parks. That sort of thinking really upsets the comfort zone. As for the staff, they are NOT cast members, OK they do exactly the same job to a high standrd but they are just not CMs. Its hellish avoid at all costs.

I already have wand money put aside for our trip this year with the monsters. I saw the hello kitty and may well come home broke but well dressedIf this is an adults only trip with a possibility of alcohol consumption, I think an amazing trip is in your near future. With the money you saved, buy a wand, buy a robe, buy a shot of fire whiskey and just go for it. The wizard dust can be as intoxicating as the pixie dust if you let it.
Plus upscale dining options in CityWalk and the hotels, and world class roller coasters.
And in case you need new fashion accessories, there is a new princess in town:

More seriously, I can't image going to DW until at least 2018. DHS is going to be a wasteland, and AK is going to be a mess when/if Avatar opens. I'm far more excited about Kong and Volcano Bay in the meantime.

Not yet. For the legnth of our stay and the fact we know we're going back to Orlando next year APs made the most sense price wise.Wait, have you not been to Universal at all yet?
I like those type of ridesmy problem with Uni is the lack of varied rides, its either coasters or screens.. or the 2 combined.
I like those type of rides
THNX I know that to some degree but we've always wanted to do a just us trip to WDW and now it might not happen. I also know if that's as much as I have in my life to B about I'm pretty luckyfrankly, you WILL miss WDW. But what you will realize you're missing is WDW with your little ones and seeing it thru their eyes. We stopped going to WDW when my DS was 8 (other than 2 one day F&W fest trips). It took me a while to realize that those mega WDW bubble vacations were wonderful trips for the younger version of our family- that we'll never be able to recapture (unless we have grandkids). But that's ok- we were lucky to have them. UOR is completely different. The bubble is smaller and there's more to do for EVERYONE. It's more relaxed. There's less hurry up and go. You won't be comparing this vacation to all the other vacations. It will be completely new, fun, exciting. You won't even remember being sad- I promise. You will have an awesome time
I'm planning on going to WDW ONE more time before we leave FL in 2020. I think it'll be worth whatever ridiculous price it'll be by then, as it will be a COMPLETELY different place than what I grew up with ( that is if construction is done).THNX I know that to some degree but we've always wanted to do a just us trip to WDW and now it might not happen. No butterbeer for me gf and dfLove WDW but Uni has so much going for it. HP is amazing, there've been so many great new additions and a lot to look forward too in the near future, the onsite perks are so much better (esp the express passes at the 3 original resorts) there's no need for the same kind of planning for ADRs and FP+ and they have like 100 different forms of butterbeer these days!!!
