Help for a Personal Issue

We'll be taveling to the World soon with a family member who had colon cancer 2 years ago and several surgeries to combat the problem. To all outward appearances he looks robust and healthy, but needs to use the bathroom multiple times per day, and has to find one quickly when the urge comes on. Will he be allowed to jump in and out of line to get to a bathroom, and what happens if we move up in line while he is there and he can't get back to us? Does Disney make any special accomodations for people with issues such as this, and would we need to bring some kind of a doctors note? Thanks for any help offered.

Look at getting him a GAC (guest assistance card) from guest relations. This will allow him and his party to basically use all the fastpass lines without having a fastpass. I am not sure what proof you will need, if you need any at all, but a note from his physician should suffice.

I agree with Master Yoda. However I would check with guest relations and really explain the cirumstance, because there are different types of GACs and you want to make sure that you get the one that can best helps your family. All GACs don't allow you to always use the fasstpass line or alternative entrance for any attraction or show. For example we had one for my Mom who was using a wheelchair, and we could use the alternative entrance for most of Fantasyland except for Pooh since the queue was wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair.

I have always found guest relations to be SUPER helpful! Also there is a special number for guests with dissabilities (and the number escapes me right now) that can help you get the answers to these types questions and help with any arrangements you might want to make.

I hope this helps! Have a great trip!!!!!

When I was younger, my father was sick, but appeared to be perfectly fine as well. He couldn't stand for long periods of time, or be in the sun for long periods of time. He just had to bring his prescription and explain what was going on and he was given the Guest Assistance Card. We were able to use it to bypass the lines without a problem. We got a few weird looks from people, because we all looked perfectly fine - but we didn't let it bother us. Just talk to guest relations and you will not have a problem.

I know this may sound stupid but if they don't mind using a wheelchair, the "urge" as you called it may not come on as fast as you think. Gravity works faster when you are standing, and they have handicapped entrances for the restrooms too. I also know about the looks you get from other inconsiderate people who judge appearences. Before my MIL passed away we had gotton her there twice, she could not walk for long, just getting from the bus stop to the entrance of a park we would have to stop at least twice, didn't mind though. We got a WC, sometimes she wouldn't mind standing in line but they do also have a wheelchair entrance for alot of the attractions too, which the whole family can use also.
