where to eat or make revs at.
Let me start of by saying HI, I am a newbie here but been reading the site for about a month or since we decide to go on vaction to WDW.
(a brief overview)We are going to be there from the 26th of June to the 2nd of July. We havent been there for about 7 years so I know things have changed abit. Anyway the party concists of wife, mother in law, my son (3yrs old on the last day) and myself. We are doing a split stay, 2 days at AS then 4 at Carribean.
Ok with that out of the way, we decided to get the Dining plan after looking at the prices at some restraunts. It may be too much food but I can push myself away and waste food(easier said than done). Plus we dont like to share becasue I might want something differnt than the wife so its just easier and less fighting.
But since we havent been for awhile, I am looking towards those that have been. What restraunts would you recommend for the stay, I want to make res ASAP.
We like to try all differnt foods so that makes that easier We also want to do a character breakfast plus one dinner show which would you recommend?

I hope this was easy to understand, thank you...

For dinner table service, I would recommend Boma, Marrakesh, and Liberty Tree Tavern (character dining).

For counter service, I would recommend Sunshine Seasons, Earl of Sandwich, maybe even Columbia Boat House (go upstairs to sit down), Tusker House, and Flame Tree BBQ.

I'll echo Marrakesh in EPCOT and The Liberty Tree Tavern in the MK... lunch is very good, but we love the Character dinner. Tusker House in AK is a must for us and the kids like Pizzafari there too.

For a fun time try the Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge (we have to eat breakfast there)- your little one will get a kick out of it.
We also like the Concourse Steakhouse in the Contemporary and the Yachtsman Steakhouse in the YC and the Cape May Cafe in the BC... seafood buffet for dinner and a cute character breakfast.

Why not look over the menus both here and at allearsnet.

In 2004, we took our DS14 and DS that just turned 3 on the day we arrived. He really liked Garden Grill. We did a very late res. We were only one in a few that were in the rest. It was less hectic and the characters came around every few minutes. Plus, the turning rest. is kinda neat! This year, we are doing MNSSHP, with an early res. at Liberty Tree Tavern for their halloween character diner. Sounds cool!:D One more suggestion that worked wonders for us. In the months before leaving, we would frequent the WDW website and let him see the quicktime movies of the rides. This seemed to help him from being scared. Maelstrom was ALWAYS his favorite to watch. When we actually got to ride it, the look on his face when he saw the polar bears was priceless!

You can also go to allears.net and view menus (subject to change) :lookaroun :animwink: It will give you an idea of the style of food they serve.

I would suggest .....

Character dining: Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary Resort - its a Buffet Style (B,D), Ohana's - Breakfast at the Polyinesian Resort

Non character dining: Ohana's - dinner at the poly - food served on skewers, 50 prime time cafe - mgm studios (L, D) mind your P's and Q's at this place

Quick Service: Pizzafari -Animal Kingdom -the best hot ham and cheese sandwich you will ever have, Starlight Cafe - Magic Kingdom - including fun entertainment by the one and only Sonny Eclipse, Mexico Pavillion - epcot- rice, beans, taco's with a mango margarita and a churro on the side..yum-o!!!!

Have a Magical Vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't miss the Liberty Tree Tavern at the Magic Kingdom. Really the only good table service place there anymore, IMO.

I'm a big fan of the 50's Prime Time Cafe at MGM as well. Not just for the atmosphere, but for the pot roast!

Artist Point in the Wilderness Lodge. We recommended this restaurant to my sister with a five year old for dinner. They said it was the best meal and time they had all week. They were terrific to the children there. We don't have any little ones, but have been there many times and they do seem to give the children lots of attention.

Table Service: ESPN Club (Boardwalk), Concourse Steakhouse (Contemporary), California Grill (Contemporary). California Grill is probably the best place place to get the most bang for your buck, despite the fact that it costs 2 credits from your meal plan.

Counter Service: Cosmic Ray's (MK), Earl Of Sandwich (Downtown Disney), Columbia Harbour House (MK), Pizzafari (AK), ABC Commissary (MGM)

There are many more, but I can't seem to dredge them up from the corners of my mind at the moment.

Go here for almost all WDW menus, or visit the menu section of this site.

Oh my! I think you're the first person that I can remember who actually either like, or recommend the Commisary!

I'd rather starve than eat there.

You might want to consider whether buffets are a good thing or a bad thing for your group. If you have to juggle the baby and the Mother in Law (not sure how self sufficient she is) then a buffet can be a headache.

Also think about whether you want to eat in the parks (combining with a day of admission) or out of the parks.

That said, here are my recommendations for your group
Out of parks - 'Ohana, Boma (my favorite), Whispering Canyon Cafe, Chef Mickey's (classic food, classic fun)
In park table service - Prime Time Cafe, Sci Fi Drive In, Hollywood and Vine (with Fantasmic package), Marrakesh (at Morocco), the Biergarten (Germany), Garden Grill (the Land)
In park counter service - Tusker House (my favorite), Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station (if open), and we liked the ABC Commissary too.
