I never stayed in CBR.

I saw a roach in a corridor of AKL that was roughly the size of a canned ham.

And I'd stay in AKL again in a heartbeat.

WDW hotels are as vigilant as any hotel chain I've ever seen in taking care of infestations. But critters are still going to get in. The question is how they handle it once they find out. In my anecdote, as soon as I told the front desk about it, I was asked if I had a minute, and the person at the front desk had me bring him to the place where I saw it while in communication with someone in Mousekeeping (I guess) to do a scan of the area for further roach problems.

LOL.

It's Florida there are going to be roaches :) We have em too in Texas, big ones, the tree roach kind. Those are the ones that craw up the wall and if you spray them with roach spray they fly right at you in a suicide dive. My wife is from California, it took her a while to get use to that!

Clean / unclean is part of the reason you "have" them but in truth even the cleanest places have them in the south. From what I know they are pretty clean bugs. Nasty as all get out in appareance but clean.

Actually, they are one of the most unclean of the bugs that get into a house. And, you are correct, it doesn't matter how clean your house is, if you don't keep the outside sprayed, they will come in. We have woods in our backyard and will see them out in the streets in our neighborhood, but I keep the outside as well as the attic sprayed and we rarely get one in the house. I've seen them many times at PORS on the walkways and balconies. I carry a small spray bottle of non-toxic pesticide that I spray around the door and window when we stay at PORS, and I've never had one get into the room. I've also seen them running around at CBR but that was four years ago. Someone will now say they are Palmetto bugs, but Palmetto bugs are a kind of cockroach. I don't really think it's a big problem or anything to worry about.

There are roaches in every hotel and in every theme park. You won't escape them. Not really sure why people are scared of them, they can't do anything to you.

Bees, wasps and spiders sting and bite so there is reason but roaches? nothing they waltz around doing their own thing.

We stayed at CBR for eight nights in 2012.
Didn't see a single Cucaracha.
But we weren't looking for them since they're everywhere in the South Eastern U.S., and spotting one would be as common as seeing a house fly in Indiana.

We were waiting for a bus at DTD a few years ago and there was a HUGE cockroach right near our bench on the sidewalk. I'm not exaggerating when I say the thing was 3 inches long and an inch wide! Freaked me out.
But yes, in Florida you should expect some cockroaches. I would not want them in my room but if you find ONE, maybe it got in when the door was open? Doesn't mean its not a clean room/resort.

Those big cockroaches are called Palmetto bugs I believe. We've seen them often at night in Epcot too, right at the benches where Off Kilter performs.

I think there is a strong debate on how clean or dirty roaches are.

http://health.ninemsn.com.au/whatsg...58/are-cockroaches-as-dirty-as-we-all-believe

Seems some testing says they are not "dirty" as many believe. I was more referencing that they do not carry diseases like some bugs but an interesting test.

Honest truth, I just killed one 20 mins ago, we deal with them down here in Tejas :)

And so concludes my input into roach talk on a Disney forum....

On the subject of bugs in disney. I have stayed in PORS, CB, All stars & Pop. I was eaten by bed bugs everywhere except for CB. Had to go to hospital after Pop as I had 57 bites. All Disney did was change our room. Has put me off for a while. Will be visiting this summer after 5 years of an absence, staying in CB. Any advice on how to check for bed bugs, & how to protect against bites. Really don't want to have to ER this summer.
