Help: 50's Prime Time or Captain's Grille??

Hello all,

Question, ... We'll be in Hollywood Studios for a full day/night and are trying to make a decision about dinner. As of now we have ADR at Captain's Grille. We've never been there before and don't know what to expect. The other possibility that is floating around in discussion is 50s Prime Time. We've been to 50s several times before and know what to expect.

My question is, is leaving DHS and making the trek over to Captains Grille going to be worth the time investment? I know we're talking about radically different themes, but what if we compare the overall experience? Is the food at Captains Grille any good?

All thoughts are appreciated.

I was going to say that if you've never done 50s Prime Time than to definitely do it. However, since you've been there, done that, then why not go for the change? That is unless you adore 50s Prime Time.

On wdwmagic.com Captain's Grille is rated 8.5 (only two reviews though). 50's Prime Time is 7.6. I've never eaten at Captain's Grille, so I have no experience with it.

Anyway, I don't think 50's Prime Time has really great food anyway. The food is pretty unmemorable (not that it's bad), it's more about the atmosphere. Once you've experienced it a few times, then it can probably be skipped if you want to try something else.

IMHO

The Captain's Grille is a nice restaurant, with good food and excellent service.

That said, if it were me I would not invest the time to leave DHS go to the Yachtclub to eat then head back to DHS.

If you are planning on staying at DHS I would eat there. 50's, Hollywood & Vine, Sci-Fi or Brown Derby all fit the bill. Again just my opinion.

If you are heading to Epcot from DHS and want lunch outside of World Showcase then I would say try the Captain's Grille.

Originally we were planning on staying at DHS but I think we're now leaning towards heading to Epcot after the meal. With that plan I'm thinking we try out the Captain's Grille if for nothing else than to try something new.

Captain's Grille is a great hidden gem.
And I always love spending time at the Disney resorts. They're so well themed and much more relaxing than the parks. A great escape!

I've eaten at the Captain's Grille and 50's and I like them both. However, the Captain's has better food and a more relaxing atmosphere. Go for it!:xmas:
