Have they change the way the CM's measure kids at Disney since last summer?. I heard that now they do it at the gates and give you a wristband. Any of you folks experienced it in the near past?. How does it work?. My three year old daughter is 40.5 inches and I am afraid they might mismeasure and she will miss a couple of great rides!!!!

Disney son since 1979!!!!!!!!!!!! Go Mouse World!!!!!

I am interested in this also. My 3 1/2 year old son is just about 40 inches. We are hoping he will add on an inch or so before we go so he can definitly ride those rides which have 40" requirements. He is somewhat the daredevil and loves rides like his Dad. I still plan on testing him on some of the more benign rides to be sure he won't be afraid. I would hate for him to have a bad experience and not want to ride other things. A wristband would be helpful-wouldn't have to be measured at every ride with the height requirement. I don't think they would mis-measure, especially if your daughter is already over 40 inches.

I haven't heard about the wristbands and the measuring at the gates. But there are ways of adding inches to a childs height - lifts inside shoes, higher heels on shoes, etc, etc.
You can take a more sensible/comfortable pair with you and just change into the higher pair when needed. Some imagination huh !!

From what I hear, they are working on a new system. The child stands on a square, and a computer laser thingamabob measures the child accuratly. The child is then given a color coded wristband based on how tall they are. They want to convert to this system, so that measurements are fair, and accurate. Sometimes a child might be 'accidentally' let on a ride for which they might not be fully tall enough for. Currently, I have heard this system is only in test phases at WDW.

One thing to note... I know it's a bummer if your child is just barely not tall enough to ride the attraction... but please keep in mind, it's done for Safety reasons. Disney wants your vacation to be memorable because you had fun, and not because lil Bobby slipped out of the rides restraint system and got hurt.

Just a sidenote--remeber they are measured in their shoes which does add some. I hadn't realized what a difference this makes until my son fell in love with Kali river rapids last November. He rode it twice in one day, and then wanted to go back for one last ride on it on our last day. When we went back, he was wearing his sandals (which have little flat soles, not tall ones like his Mickey Mouse Tennis shoes he had had on the other day), and no longer made the hieghth requirenment. He was devestated. So, for the kids who are really close, pay attention ot their shoes.
