Heavy crowds for 23rd april week onwards? Still Spring Break? Think I messed up

Hey everyone. So I think I messed up. Everything told me the fortnight of 23rd april -6th May 2024 was out of Spring break when I planned last year since easter was early etc. (I know cheer is on but i was fine with that)

A post blew up on FB saying this is going to be one of the **worst** weeks for spring break crowd's and to change dates if we can. Worse than now.

I've been seeing how bad is it just now and now I'm really worried and gutted tbh. We're staying at AoA , coming from the UK with the kids (we have DAS due to the medical conditions they have) and it's costs thousands, there's no way to change my dates.

Can anyone give me facts about how bad my crowd's will be and how busy it still will be for spring breakers? Thank you. First time at Disney and I'm feeling so much regret now

Spring Break crowds, in the traditional sense, should be long gone by the end of April. Most public schools will wrap up their breaks by next week and most colleges are in the final exam period in early May. We went the week before Easter and it wasn't bad at all (but we're also veteran park goers so our idea of bad may be different). Don't let a Facebook post, which are often spread around to cause agitation, cause you unnecessary stress.

Thank you for this . Usually I would agree but there were posters commenting saying loads of schools actually have spring break then. Someone said 10-15 states had theirs them, which shocked me and which is what caught my attention. I'd assumed like you it was mostly done.

you're looking at about a 5 average out of 10 during that timeframe
Really appreciate your reply thank you. Do you disagree with the statement that 10-15 states have SB then? All of new yorkers apparently. That person is adamant it'll be a worse week and her kid is off then. It really caught me by surprise

I think you will be fine if it's this year. If it's a 2025 trip...yeah that is during the week after Easter which will be busy.

How did I get the wrong year? Would really appreciate actually information, rather than this.

I'm literally on the page now and people are talking about this month. And that they are off at the end of april. Honestly if they are wrong about the crowd levels then fine, but they're definitely talking about this year. Not 2025 but thanks I guess

You confuse me because you’re talking an about a time period from 2024 that’s now over.

Did you mean what is it like this year as opposed to next year?

Attendance overall has gone down over the last year…that shouldn’t change going to next year as well.

As far as “crowded”…they’ve got an issue with the ride capacity. Some people report “it’s packed”…the last couple times I was there - traditionally the “busiest” times - it’s felt like a ghost town to me.

The spring crowds do not feel as bad as they traditionally have been in my experience

Go to TouringPlans.com and they show the expected crowd calendar for the days. You can go into each park and see what those estimates mean in terms of wait times. As @GhostHost1000 stated, the timeframe for your visit is around the "5" level, which is usually fine. You won't be in the crazy waits. Not to say that those days can't have unusual bumps but it won't be like it has been this week, in terms of crowds.

First of all, welcome to the boards! You'll find a lot of great information here.

Please don't worry about your dates. You're going to be fine. I don't know what FB is talking about, but spring breaks in the US are pretty much over and Easter was early.

I can tell you that my family visits almost every year either the last week of April or the first week of May. Crowds are quite manageable and can even be low at times. That said, it's still WDW; there are a lot of people, especially in lines for the most popular rides.

Another great thing about the time you're going is the weather; it's as perfect for a visit as the unpredictable Florida weather can be. We generally have mid-80's during the days and it rarely rains (as opposed to our other visits in the fall).

There is a great website called Touringplans.com run by poster @lentesta. It has a ton of valuable information, especially for first-time visitors. I highly recommend visiting the site.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful time!
