Healthy Quick-Serve Options?

For our trip next month, we opted for the Quick Serve Dining Plan, rather than the Deluxe, which we've always used in the past. So, that means 2 counter service meals per day. In the past, I was never concerned about eating desserts and whatnot, but after losing a bunch of weight this past year, I'd rather not have cake twice a day. :) Does anyone know the best places to go that are going to have some healthier choices? I remember Sunshine Seasons in Epcot having a nice selection, but other than that, I never really took note. Any advice, or lists of restaurants, would be extremely helpful and appreciated! :)

Most of the quick service restaurants at least ONE healthy option on menu. You will almost always find a salad option on menu. In lieu of cake you can always ask for apple slices or sometimes they may substitute a fruit cup. IMHO, these days eating healthy in the world is not as difficult as it used to be. Enjoy and have a grand time.

It's hard to eat healthy at Disney. Not only is all there junk foods so tempting, but their healthy options are a bit lame :( I always just go for it because I want to enjoy my holiday! But that's just me :)

And remember, all the walking you'll be doing will make up for it. Run each morning too if it makes you feel better, if you're staying on property the resorts are made to have scenic jogging routes!

Other than sunshine seasons and the hotels qs,and Tangierine cafe had some options, I haven't found too many decent healthy offerings in the world's qs options. But it does look as if they are changing.. I know that Be Our Guest has nutritional information for their quick service meals- which may mean some healthier options are in the works.
Some places will allow you to switch your dessert for a side salad on the quick service meal credits- ask every time- worked wonders for us (the qs desserts were never good enough to waste the calories on for us!)

Hmm... there are the salads at Pinnochio's, a veggie sandwich at Columbia Harbor House, the aforementioned Tangeriene Cafe, etc. As for desserts, you can inquire about substituting fruit or yogurt (a common option on the children's menu). Here's a health-focused article with some more specific recommendations: http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2010/02/04/eating-healthy-in-walt-disney-world/

I share your concern -- I, too, dieted before Disney and didn't want to backslide while we were there. We had the regular dining plan. I generally went ahead and ordered a dessert, took a couple of bites, and then turned it over to the kids. I did eat my full meals, though, plus a Dole Whip here and there. With all the walking we did every day, I found that even with all that food, I hadn't gained a single pound when I got home.

Excellent tips, everyone. I will be going running every morning that I can. We're staying at the Wilderness Lodge and I hear they have some nice trails. I do plan to loosen my restrictions while on vacation and definitely indulge here and there. Dole Whips and Mickey Ice Cream Bars are a MUST. But yeah, like awoogala said, the QS desserts are usually not worth cheating for. :D

A lot of qs have a veggie burger option and when you get a regular burger filler up at the toppings bar with the veggies. Most of the time a burger has less calories than fried just about anything. Frozen fruit bars are a healthier snack hope this helps
