Hey everybody, just wanted to give a heads up!
Per Orlando Park News...
Beginning from Tuesday, April 12, the temporary monorail service suspensions affecting the Express Beam every Wednesday and Thursday will also occur on Tuesdays (scheduled monorail closures may be adjusted to accommodate extra magic hours). As a reminder, the Walt Disney World monorail system is currently in the middle of a project that will result in a completely automated transportation system that ultimately aims to be safer and more efficient than ever before.

The description of TCS in the article is kind of incorrect, but nice find! I guess you could call it "completely automated", but it just seems like a weird term when a CM is required to sit in the cab for emergency purposes.

I would rather them repurpose the control rooms at TTC, EPCOT, and MK, and monitor them there, but I'm sure that would be too expensive, and still wouldn't be "safe" enough, for whoever decided that they need a driver in the cab at all times, essentially sitting there twiddling their thumbs until there's an emergency.

I find it hard to believe they would make it completely automated and still require somebody in the cab. I would also think if there were an emergency, you would want the CM on board to be familiar enough with the controls so they can work through any situation that may arise. We shall see.

It's required by law, not sure if state, federal, or just a company policy, but a CM must be in the cab at all times, no matter what.

Multi-billion dollar projects that are made today, built to be automated, can be automated, but using 25 year old Train Sets with 45 year old Track that was never made to be automated, cannot be COMPLETELY automated.
