Having Major Anxiety Over Upcoming Trip, Need Advice/Comforting!

Hey guys, I am having so trip troubles and woes and I'm hoping you awesome guys and gals here on the forums can steer me in the right direction. So here's how it goes:

So I am 16 years old and I am making a trip down to the World from New York from August 5-August 10 with just my 19 year old sister. No Parents, just me and my big sis! So that's all fine and dandy, but when I was reviewing some things, I realized we made some terrible, terrible mistakes when making our reservations.

Firstly, everything is under my name since we used an account I created on the Disney World website. This includes our airline stuff, our hotel, our tickets, our dining plan, etc. Will this be an issue since I am only 16? Or is it okay since I have my 19 year old sister with me?

Second, my age is incorrect. So when I made the account I talked about above, I lied about my age since I thought I had to be 18 or older to make a reservation with an account so I put down my correct birth DAY but lied about my birth YEAR saying it was 1994 not 1997. This is, again, on everything mentioned above, hotel, tickets, dining plan, flights, etc. My biggest fear with this is the airline stuff because of security and all that jazz especially when it comes to the fact that people over 18 need an adult ID,...but I'm not over 18 and the only ID I have is my high school ID which blatantly states I am in 10th grade. So my question here is should I be worrying about this error and if I need to fix it, how do I do so? Also my dad is worrying if we end up changing my age that we will have to re reserve the entire vacation, is that a validated fear?

Lastly, today in the mail, we received our luggage tags and stuff for the magical express and our itinerary and voucher booklet, etc. and our flight info. Again, sounds fine and dandy, however, the flight info is correct for my sister, but it says that there is no flight information for me. So once more, my question is, what do I do about this?

Thanks to everybody who took the time to read this and even more thanks to anybody who helps! I am just so stressed and I am having like a mini panic attack over things going wrong every day. I only get to go down to the world once a year if I'm lucky and this was supposed to be a super special trip where my sis and I could be on our own, but now I am terrified it has all gone down the you know what. God, why didn't we book through an agencey!?

That definitely seems like it could be a problem. I can't help you much with this, but hopefully someone else can come along and give you some answers.

Good luck! I hope everything works out alright!

If I'm reading this correctly you gave Disney an age where you are how old? If it was over 17 they charge you for being in the room. If you call and give them your actual age then you will then save some money. My daughter is 16 and her friend that came along with us was also 16. They told me if she had been 18 then it would cost extra for her to stay in the same room. Now I don't know if that was because it would have been 4 adults or because they are considered adults at 17. I would check into that.

I would personally call and have your age changed on everything. Just make sure they know you will have an adult with you. They asked for a picture ID when we checked in. And at the airline check in I believe they ask for a picture ID as well. Just something to keep in mind.

Planes alone will cause an issue.

Call and fix it now.

If you are sixteen you can easily go to the DMV and get a state id. You will be ble to use it for the airport no problem. You can even get a passport.

As for the hotel reservations, call and just casually ask what their procedure is for minors traveling alone without parents. If I can remember when I was in high school and me and my friend did the same thing for a school competition, they asked him to bring a written note from his mom who's credit are was used to book stating it was ok for us to be using the card they had on file. I think they called him mom to verify as well at check in.

If you booked everything through Disney on their site, the easiest thing to do would be to have your older sister call Disney and explain the problems that you are having. If you are not on the flight info, that needs to be looked into regardless of anything you are worrying may or may not happen, so address that first then have your sister ask about the age issues you are concerned over. Stop stressing and just let her be the point of contact as she is the of-age person on the itinerary.

Just out of curiosity, since your older sister was going, why wasn't she made the "main" person to begin with on reservations?

Also, even though she is your sister, with your being a minor you absolutely need a note from one of your parents stating she has the ability to make medical decisions for you if you were to get ill or in case of accident and need to see a doctor. (Heaven forbid.) It's best to be safe than sorry.

One last thing about the flight. Even though you booked through the Disney website, the airlines will have e-mailed you a separate confirmation on the same day you booked the package. Did you check to make sure you actually purchased tickets for both of you?

...and this is why I wouldn't let my 17 year old cousin go with me in January but instead picked a friend who was 18. Don't worry, I promised I'd take her when she's 18. Just was a headache I didn't need. Anyway, back to the problem...

You did not have to be 18 to make the account. Although it would have been better for your sister to do it, I made dining reservations and such when I was a minor. And I didn't lie about my age (not that I never did before I was 18, but never on my Disney accounts). I don't think it will be a problem, and the age for entering the parks alone is 14. So just call (you'll have to have a parent/guardian's permission first) and get it straightened out. I don't think you'll have an issue other than a CM who thinks "Good grief, another teen." You cannot change your age online; I just double checked.

You're 16? Go get your learner's permit. It's a photo ID, plus it has the benefit of, ya know, driving. As far as the airport goes, check with the airline to see their requirements.

I know how frustrating it is to just not quite be there. You can do these things yourself, or at least want to try, but then the law says you can't! In less than 2 years you'll be 18. Hang in there until then;)

Thank you all for your help so far, my dad is going to call the reservation center to get things straightened out. This whole thing was kind of a joint screw up between my dad and I considering me lying about my age, (gosh I hate that word lying, but hey, if the shoe fits) but it was his idea to put everything in my name rather that my sister's despite my advising him not to for fear things like this would happen. Oh well though, passing the blame is never really the gentlemanly thing to do, especially with an awesome dad who's paying for a $3,000 vacation he's not even going on. Again, thanks for all the help guys, I think everything will work out. ;)

The airport will be the problem. Your age and exact name must match your picture ID. My son's girlfriend doesn't drive, so she had to go and get a state ID at the DMV to fly Delta. She was 20 and still had to do this. We even got my daughter an ID when she was 12 to use for flights and such. Since I was her parent, they didn't actually ask for it when we checked-in at the airport. However, this was almost 6 years ago.

If traveling via airplanes with parents/guardians, being under 18 doesn't require ID but traveling alone certainly does require it. The WDW info won't be the issue, but like a few others have, the airline/airport will be a huge issue unless it gets changed over. Good luck!

You will have major issues at the airport if you have lied about your birthdate. Anyone over 18 needs a valid ID, and since you lied about being 18, you will be stopped at security and quite possibly not allowed to board the plane. Had you not lied, there would be no issue, since you ,at 16, do not need an ID. You need to straighten this out with Disney immediately, and make sure that they also straighten out the age on your flight reservations.
As far as being charged extra, this only happens when there are more than 2 adults in the room - it will not apply to you.

Good luck, and have a great trip!

If you log into your account and entery your itinerary you can make your sister the primary guest. As for the airport contact the carrier and advise them there was an error.

Except when I was flying to California, twice, once at check in and once at security, they said, "Oh, we don't need your ID!" Didn't even ask about my age, I guess because I was with my parents. I made them check anyway to avoid trouble. I guess some airlines don't ask specifically for age. But you're right, the OP should call the airline anyway.

Maybe. since the MDE is my account, and I have been handling everything, I tried to change the primary on the account from my husband to me. It duplicated me 2x in the account, and eliminated my husband. Called Disney and was told it is a computer glitch that could not be fixed "at this time". It has yet to be fixed.

From all the you mentioned, I think the biggest issue is the plane. Call the airline and correct your age and ask them what ID you need to bring with you. And you have enough time to fast order a passport. It will cost you extra for the last minute but it can be done. That is the biggest issue. They will not let you on the airline if you should have an ID and you don't.

The 2nd phone call is to Disney and confirm 1) do they have your airline info? and 2) just say you realized your age is inaccurate and correct it. It won't be a big deal. You will need ID to check in as well so the passport will come in handy. Do you have a CC? In your name? If it is someone else's name you may have an issue with putting that card on file so you can charge things to the room.

Keep us posted and let us know how it turns out.
