i have bright orange hair thats right now pretty long, so people already stare at me. But when I was like 19-20 I also had long orange hair and I dyed it jet black because of feelings and stuff and that took a year to grow out. At one point I had half orange half black hair and probably looked like an

I've always wanted to dye my hair purple, but my college friends told me I'd look incredibly weird with it so I decided against it .

Last year, once I realized I wouldn't be going into the office anytime soon, I decided to dye my hair blue. I wasn't feeling overly gutsy on the first try, so I just used a blue dye kit and didn't strip any color from my hair. I have dark brown hair, so as you could probably imagine, only my untreated gray hairs turned visibly blue...although, I did have a bluish glow when in full sun. After a few weeks, I got more gutsy and decided to try blue highlights. I separated out 8 or so big long chunks of hair and stripped them of all color. I researched a variety of dyes and did an all over application...in hopes that the color stripped and gray hairs would come out blue. The stuff was a MESS!!! ...and it turned out being more green than the Smurf blue it was in the bottle. I decided to try another dye...more of a teal. That dyed true to color, but it really did a number on my scalp. After a couple of weeks, the teal shifted to a variety of shades of green. When it got too ugly looking, I went auburn. I'm going on a year since I've put any dye in my hair and have trimmed off a lot of what was previously dyed. I've got A LOT of gray right now, which has me thinking about conventional vs. unconventional. Part of me is tempted to go with lavender...may even do it tonight.
