I completely agree....on my story I figured that at the times it probably wasn't watched over as much as it is today too.

There was one time that I was riding up front in the monorail, and the driver didn't say two words to me. She was just kinda creepy. There wasn't anything overtly rude about her, just a weird "vibe," and certainly un-Disneylike.

I think they are supposed to act like this. Paying attention to the job at hand safety kind of thing. I've never had a conversation with the pilot other than 'hello'.

Just a quick story.

I am overwieght, and when I go to a spa, there is never a big enough robe for me, which means I have to wear a swmisuit around all the time, which is embarrassing. On my last trip my wife and I went to the GF spa for massages. I called about a week before to request an oversized robe. When we got there about 1 hour before our massage to relax in the jacuzzi, there was no robe my size in the locker room. Oh well, I said to myself. I got in the shower, and when I got out, there was an oversize robe on the bench with a little note from the CM saying that Goofy was late on his delivery route that day, signed "M. Mouse." This is the WDW experience we all want and hope for. And 99 times out of 100, it is what we get.

:sohappy:
aww,that is soo nice!

I have been in the drivers cab before and had a real nice CM. Very talkative and funny.

I still remember like yesterday but it was 1996, November a week before Thanksgivin, This was supposed to be a family week but it changed.Still was a Family gathering at the 25 anniversary, My brother and me that has been before, and my sister and mother that was their first time.

At Epcot over the American Adventure, was Goofy, Chip and Dale.

My sis who was a big fan of Goofy made the line for a Picture, when it was our turn Goofy took her by the shoulders and pushed her aside, Chip and Dale were near by taking pictures separated came over my sister and she has a pict of them together.

I would have normally thought the same way, but I had previously had a really interesting and fun conversation with another monorail driver. Also, we were waiting to leave for quite a while, and even while she wasn't doing anything and waiting to leave the station, she was in a grumpy mood and didn't say anything.

SIR, I got a similar response when I asked a question like that--we probably had the same one.

I love this thread! haha Well here's my story for the day. Last August my brother and I were at the ticket center bus stop waiting for a bus to the AK. Well we were like the 2nd people in line and there was like a thousand people waiting behind us. Most of them were from some sort of school trip and they were being really annoying. Well anyways the bus driver pulls up to the END of the line letting all of the people at the end get in first. Well this big black woman who was right behind us starts screaming at the bus driver. "Hey Hey! You parked at the wrong side! We were in the front of the line." Well the bus driver comes storming out and she's like "Everyone makes mistakes!" The driver was being extremely psycho-ish too! It was hilarious because we all asked her for her name and that same lady was like well you're about to get a call to guest relations! haha I bet she had about 50 complaints that day.

what is it about being a bus driver that makes you crack? nearly every school bus driver i had growing up was slightly insane (much like the busdriver on South Park)

I had a weird employee who i thought was gay and coming onto me. He said that he was the Disney Quiz master and would like to ask me some questions. The way that he spoke creeped me out.

I have to take thier side, although I know nothing about what its like standing in a disney suit and entertaining kids all day. It has to be somewhat :hammer:   if you know what I mean. I know if I were dealing with kids all day long I would be on the edge too.

I know but my sister at the time was 32 years old and i was 23, so that would kill the magic for someone that didn't belive and lost all kind of hopes for "the magic" if you know what i ment.

I think I made the last two posters mad....regarding the monorail guys, I guess its all personal experience. Odds are we aren't the only ones feeling the way we do.

And PaisleyMF I def. know what you mean. I was speaking on more of the children that they have to deal with. Although at 25 I act like a child when I go.

But I know what you guys mean.

Just got back and I have to say that I had the BEST bus driver. We were leaving Disney-MGM Studios at night, got on the bus and before we left he said, "Ok folks I'm going to turn the bus lights off.......we will then drop 13 stories."

He also did great disney character voices like Donald and Mickey. He also sang Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah and The Mickey Mouse Club Theme Song. Told us interesting things about the parks like they actually do need a light on top of everest because it's so tall and that he got to walk inside IASW and it was BEAUTIFUL and what it looked like, etc.

Absolutely. Yet to get on a bus and have a bus driver that wasn't fun.

No worries, I really thought the monorail pilots were trained to keep to themselves as my experience has been consistent. The bus drivers on the other hand have been all over the map in terms of introverts and extroverts.

once had a guide on the backstage tour that was a riot, he had a French accent (but it could have been fake) and kept wondering why we always had to wait for some guy named "Clearance" wherever we went, and why his name wasn't "Clarence" in addition to alot of other silly behaviour

this was way back in 1990 i believe, anyone else get this guy? he had a French name too

On our first ever visit to Universal, we encountered an elderly gentleman near where they tie the large parade inflatables up.
He decided to chat to us, he said he knew we were English before we spoke because..and then went into a giant spiel about the British and how annoying they were, and then said "oh but you guys are nothin like that"
he then went on to tell us that he hated his job and it was all Cr@p, he swore quite profusely and in the end I had to say "excuse me, but we're on vacation and seriously do not want to hear, nor care about your job" we wandered off.
I felt guilty for being mean, but sadly that will Always be my impression of Universal.

I mention this because, not once have I ever encountered a rude cast member at Disney

on our last night in Orlando we were headed from MGM to Epcot or IROE and the bus driver was SO amazing, he made my night, he was just funny in general.
The bus was PACKED and he came on the tannoy and was like "Ladies and gentlemen, can those of you who are seated, please look at those standing and say "hahahaha"

Also, we had to make a park related complaint once at Mk, and I felt so bad doing it, as the girl we spoke to was so amazingly helpful, we wrote a letter when we got back to the UK thanking her for her help and apologising for putting her in that unfortunate position and we got a personal reply from her saying it was no problem at all, she understood the situation and she was glad to be there to help.
I was really surprised at this.

So yes, thread drift..sorry.
