In just 9 days, Pixar stock will cease to exist. At the end of April, Disney will formally take over Pixar and Pixar stock will no longer be sold. So, if you want one of those nifty Pixar stock certificates, you'd better act fast. I bought a couple today for friends and family. To infinity and beyond!

I was looking into this the last couple days. I have an account with Ameritrade. They want to charge $40 to process the paper stock. plus $10.99 to buy.

I would be better off going through "Oneshare.com"

Indeed, any company you use is going to charge you a $39.00 or $40.00 transfer fee to have the stock recorded in your name. If you use Oneshare.com, they will also hit you with the fee for a frame and shipping costs.

If you want to go the frame route, Singleshare.com has the best deal I've seen.

How will this share relate to Disney stock once the buyout is complete?
The Pixar stock will become invalid (just a pretty decoration for your wall) but you will get 2.3 shares of Disney in return!

Disney bought Pixar with Disney stock!

Nope. Pixar stock is now worthless except as a pretty collectors item. For each registered share of Pixar stock, 2.3 shares of Disney stock will be automatically issued to the holder(s) of record. No one is required to "turn in" their Pixar shares.

This is off the Pixar company FAQ plus they told me at frame a stock too

Am I required to return my Pixar stock certificates to receive Disney shares?
Yes. When the merger became effective, Pixar became a wholly owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company and Pixar shares ceased trading. In order to receive your shares of Disney common stock, you must surrender your Pixar common stock certificates to Disney Shareholder Services along with the properly executed Transmittal Form

"As a result of the merger, each of your Pixar shares has been converted into the right to receive 2.3 shares of The Walt Disney Company common stock. Your Disney shares will either be credited to your brokerage account or, if you hold your Pixar stock in certificate form, you will be issued Disney stock provided that you complete a Letter of Transmittal. These are expected to be mailed to Pixar shareholders on or about May 15. Please allow approximately 10 days for delivery within the United States. After this period of time, if you have not received a Letter of Transmittal, please contact Disney Shareholder Services at:

The Walt Disney Company

Shareholder Services
500 South Buena Vista MC 9722
Burbank, CA 91521-9722
Or by phone at (818) 553-7200."

When you get your Letter of Transmittal, you'll find out how to get your new Disney shares without having to surrender your Pixar certificates. All they need is the formal Letter of Transmittal. You see, a lot of people own stock and they don't even have the actual stock certificates. For example, I don't have to prove I own Intel stock by showing a stock certificate because I am an owner of record. Heck, some companies don't even offer stock certificates any more! It's all done electronically.

Now, if you are not an owner of record (i.e. the stock is not registered in your name) then yes, you would have to surrender your shares.

Ok so now will the movies still say Disney.Pixar or just Disney???

Movies from Walt Disney Feature Animation will carry the Disney brand. Movies from the Pixar division will carry the Disney-Pixar brand. For now, at least...

Guess we will have to wait and see/Pixar says one thing, disney says one thing.Frame a stock says the same as Pixar..Just like frame a stock told me.I would keep the pixar instead of turning in your pixar certs for the disney 2.3 shares,Because pixar will be worth more as a collectable..Hope you are right..I sure would like to keep my certs I just received in the frame and the plaque..We shall soon see..

If you desire to keep your Pixar Stock Certificate, then do the following:

First, check the box on the Transmittal Form labeled "Lost, Stolen, or Destroyed Certificate(s)". Next, complete the Affidavit of Lost, Stolen or Destroyed Certificates on the reverse side of the Transmittal Form. Please see Transmittal Form Instruction numbers 8, 9, and 10 for details on completing the Affidavit form and calculating the bond premium. Along with the completed Affidavit form, you must provide payment of a bond premium if more than four shares are lost. Return the completed Affidavit and replacement bond (if required) with the Transmittal Form.

Once you submit the Transmittal Form, your new Walt Disney shares will be issued.

A word to the wise. If you fail to send in the Transmittal Form, then your Disney share entitlement and the dividends could be declared as unclaimed property and transferred to the state in which you live. You would lose it all.

If you follow my previous advice, you will be able to make the transfer and still keep your Pixar stock certificate. Also, since Disney does not issue fractional shares, you will get 2 shares of Disney and 0.3 in the form of a check (about $9.00).
