Have you been on Dinosaur during a breakdown?

I've always wondered, what's it like to be stuck, let alone evacuated, next to a carnatourus scene? Is it as scary as it sounds?

If the work lights are on you can usually see the static decoy Carnotaurus Head for when the main one breaks.

Lol that's funny. I unfortunately saw the static decoy regardless cause the running carnotaurus wasn't in order.

We were evacuated once near the end. It's not scary at all. You can see how fake everything is. I remember the whole floor we walked on was very, very sticky.

That's cool! You didn't feel uneasy at all? Normally I don't care for breakdowns but dinosaur is so dark, and the carnatourus so animated & loud, I'd imagine it isn't comfortable.

Sticky floors? They really tried for the swamp immersion thing didn't they lol. But really that's odd.

Once the ride is evacing all the lights would be turned on and audio is turned off so it’s not like you’re walking though what the ride is typically like.

Very true but sometimes it takes them 5 - 10+ minutes to do that. So in that 5-10 minutes you're being screamed at by the dinosaur correct? Stuck in a static vehicle in the dark.

Audio is typically the first thing to get turned off or significantly lowered in volume if you get stuck. it wouldn’t be more than a minute if that for them to lower the audio and around the 5-10 minute mark is when you turn on the lights.

edit: now that I think of it, on Dinosaur all the audio cuts out as soon as your vehicle stops.

I got stuck at the end of the ride right as we’re about to get out of the Time Rover. I was actually glad that we weren’t in the ride as that would’ve been totally NSFM for me! (And kind of scary now that you mention it).

The loading area was oddly quiet and empty, and I took a picture of the general area so I could remember the occasion and one of the CMs was jokingly said, “Don’t put me on a Facebook! My parents don’t know I don’t have a real job.” :p

So maybe the thought of it is scarier than the reality, in this case.

lol I would think it's scary enough. Being on the ride itself, I recall being next to the carnotaurus and thinking it would suck if our vehicle really stopped moving! You lucked out haha.

Indiana Jones Adventure is the same way. You don't realize how much artificial noise there is until CM's have to cut the audio out. I wouldn't doubt that CM's shut off Dinosaur's audio ASAP per what @MrConbon said because they know kids (and some adults lol) would have a panic attack being stuck next to Carnotaurus.

We knew something was wrong when we kept bouncing like crazy in the dark and yet we saw no new scene. My kids told me we were stuck. I honestly thought we were still going forward. The CMs finally came with a ladder to get us down. I didn't realize how high up you are on that attraction.
All of the lights were on when we were walking. Everything we saw is pretty much what you would expect to see. Personally, I prefer the smoke and mirrors, and pixie dust.

The same thing happened to us a few years ago. We broke down near the end with the Rover.in the "up" position. They wheeled the ladder over to us and we got to walk down the somewhat steep and sticky ramp. The consolation Fastpass was nice but I agree with preferring it with the lights out.

I still remember this when it was Countdown to Extinction and quite a bit scarier. I was about 10 or so, terrified, and loved every minute of it. I really wish they’d refurbish the attraction, ramp up the terror meter just a bit, with appropriate warning signs out front. (And redo that dated CGI security footage of the Iguanodon)

I don't think this warning has ever changed even during the CTX era..
